Today’s class had an impromptu and amazing science lesson when we spotted this praying mantis in the grass on the playground. We were able to observe it for 10 minutes and see it wiggle its antennae, walk on top of the grass, “pray” with its front legs and climb onto a large piece of mulch. We were able to count its legs to determine a praying mantis is an insect, not a spider.
