Please take two minutes to support for a safer, slower 101. EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY WEIGHED IN, YOU MUST COMMENT AGAIN NOW.

***We have until Monday to support one of the options below.***
***We endorse A: Complete Streets for ALL of Coast Highway.**

A simple note is all that is needed ("I support Complete Streets!" or "Keep two lanes through the Dip!")

The full study results are linked below. Here are the options:

A) "Complete Streets" from the Harbor to Carlsbad
-Reduces traffic lanes to 2 lanes for most of the stretch, with 3 lanes in high volume areas
-Adds continuous bike lanes for the entirety of Coast Highway
-Improves the pedestrian environment w/ wider, landscaped sidewalks
-Slows speeds while improving traffic flow with roundabouts
-Implements traffic calming to reduce traffic in neighborhoods
-Installs mid-block crosswalks
-Provides additional parking and enough space to get into and out of your car safely

B) Alternative One: Complete Streets from Harbor to O'side Blvd
-Implements Complete Streets in North O, leaving South O unimproved
**REVERSES safety measures put in place after Logan's death

C) Alternative Two: Complete Streets from Harbor to Morse
**Preserves two lanes through the Dip
-Implements Complete Streets in North O, leaving South O unimproved
-Preserves two lanes through the Dip
-Installs promised, funded but uncompleted crosswalk
**THIS IS THE ONLY COMPROMISE OPTION THAT PRESERVES SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL FOR KIDS WEST OF THE 5.

D) Do nothing

Our beautiful neighborhood of South Oceanside is full of families with kids. We're a young, active community, and we love walking around the neighborhood. But, walking and cycling around the neighborhood - especially the Coast Highway area - is dangerous and stressful . Sidewalks are narrow, cars...

Reminder: IRONMAN is this weekend! We have thousands of visitors, and Pacific street will be closed. If you can, avoid driving on Coast Hwy. If the traffic gets you down, remember that the race brings about $3.9 MILLION to Oceanside and donates $25k to local organizations--including ours--every year!

SUCCESS! Yesterday, by unanimous vote, City Council agreed to add another "compromise" option that includes the Dip. Now, Council will have a way to preserve a safe route to school while addressing concerns from South O merchants who oppose bike lanes on Coast.
This is a small victory, but we are smiling nonetheless. We are a little bit closer to establishing permanent safe passage. Baby steps.👣

Tomorrow, Council reviews 3 models to be considered for the 101. TWO OF THESE REMOVE SAFE PASSAGE BETWEEN NORTH & SOUTH OCEANSIDE. Please contact council to let them know this is unacceptable! Better yet, come tomorrow, and tell them!

City Hall Wednesday the 29th @2 (better late than never!)

Tomorrow's workshop could be critical for safe passage on Coast. The pilot project, which we fought for after the death of our sweet neighbor, established the ONLY SAFE ROUTE TO SCHOOL for students who live on one side of town and go to school on the other. It is the ONLY bike lane between North and South Oceanside. This community must continue to insist safe streets for people in cars, on bikes and on foot. We need your voice!
