🌀🫖 HURRICANE ETIQUETTE: WHEN THE WIND BLOWS, LET KINDNESS SHOW!

Here on the Gulf Coast, we know the drill. Stock up on water, charge the phones, fill up the gas tank…and make sure somebody has the good snacks! 😂

But while we’re preparing for the storm, let’s not forget our manners.

🌸 Check on your elderly neighbors.

🌸 Be patient with store employees. They’re preparing for the storm, too!

🌸 Don’t buy up everything and leave nothing for the next family.

🌸 Share reliable information, not rumors.

🌸 And if someone opens their home to you, remember: you’re a guest, not checking into an all-inclusive resort! 😂

A little kindness can go a long way when the weather gets rough.

🫖 NOW PASS THE SWEET TEA…

What’s that ONE thing every Southern household absolutely MUST have before a hurricane?

And don’t say bread and milk unless you’re making French toast! 😂👇

Stay safe, neighbors! ❤️

Every etiquette show needs at least one person willing to test the rules… and apparently, that person is Tori Bishop. 😂☕️

Thank goodness Nancy Wilson and Brenda Joy are here to keep things polished, proper, and civilized.

And then there‘s our friend Tori 😇

We like to think of her as our real-world stress test for good manners.

🌧️ Rainy days call for warm cups & good conversation. 🫖

Some days are made for slowing down.

A little rain.
A warm cup.
A good conversation.
And nowhere you need to rush off to. ☕️🌧️

Maybe hospitality isn’t always a perfectly set table or a beautifully planned gathering. Sometimes it’s simply saying:

“Come in. Sit down. Stay awhile.”

And since the rain has already given you permission to get cozy, it’s the perfect time to catch up on any episodes of the Sweet Tea & Civility podcast you may have missed! 🎧🫖 https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sweet-tea-and-civility/id1893407742

Get comfortable, pour yourself something good, and spend a little time with Nancy & Brenda talking about grace, manners, relationships, work, and navigating everyday life with a little more civility.

Now pass the sweet tea…

If we showed up at your door on a rainy afternoon, what are you serving us? 😂👇🏽

☕ Coffee? 🫖 Tea? 🍰 Something sweet? 🍲 Something warm?
Or are you peeking through the blinds thinking, “They should’ve called first!” 😂

💼 FRIDAY ETIQUETTE TRIVIA

TRUE OR FALSE:

📧 If your boss sends you an email after work hours, proper workplace etiquette says you should respond that evening.

👀 Oh, this one could start a conversation.

TRUE or FALSE?

Before you answer, remember: we’re asking what good workplace etiquette requires—not what your particular boss might expect. 😂

👇 Drop TRUE or FALSE in the comments and tell us why.

Then tag that coworker who always has an opinion about workplace rules. 😂

Nancy & Brenda will be back with the answer!

Apparently, if you want to grow your audience, you have to keep up with the trends. 😂

So here we are… seasoned, stylish, and still keeping up with the internet. 💅🏽✨

We may come from the generation of handwritten thank-you notes, proper introductions, and knowing exactly which fork to use… but don’t get it twisted — we can do a trend too. 😉

Sweet Tea & Civility has officially entered the AI era, and we have to admit… we look pretty good here. 😂

Help us show the algorithm that good manners never get old — and neither does having a little fun.

Follow Sweet Tea & Civility, invite a friend to follow us too, and stick around. We’re just getting started.

Now tell us… did we nail the trend? 👇🏽

🫖 BEFORE YOU POST, PAUSE.

Social media has given everyone a voice.

Civility asks us to remember there’s a person on the other side of the screen.

Before you comment, share, or respond, ask yourself:

Is it true?
Is it necessary?
Can I say it without demeaning someone?

Disagreement does not require disrespect.
A different opinion does not require an insult.
And being passionate about what you believe does not give you permission to be cruel.

Sometimes you should speak up.
Sometimes you should correct misinformation.
Sometimes you should disagree.

But how we communicate still matters.

And one more thing: not every comment deserves your response. Knowing when to disengage can be good etiquette, too.

🫖 Now pass the sweet tea…

What is ONE social media etiquette rule you wish everyone would follow?

👇 Tell us in the comments.

📱 PHONE DOWN. PEOPLE FIRST. 🫖

We’ve all seen it.

Dinner is served. Everyone sits down…and someone’s scrolling, texting, checking notifications—or taking just one more picture of the food. 😂

But here’s the etiquette question:

When you’re sharing a meal with someone, where should your phone be?

Ideally, not competing for your attention.

Unless you’re expecting an urgent call or need your phone for a legitimate reason, putting it away sends a simple message to the people sitting across from you:

“Right now, you have my attention.”

And if you do need to check it? A quick, “Excuse me, I need to respond to this,” goes a long way.

Because sometimes good etiquette isn’t about knowing which fork to use.

It’s about making the person across the table feel more important than the person on the other side of your screen. ❤️

🫖 NOW PASS THE SWEET TEA…

Be honest: Are phones at the dinner table rude—or is that etiquette rule outdated? 👀

And what about taking pictures of your food? 📸😂
