Family medicine often requires making thoughtful decisions with the information available in the moment.

As ultrasound continues to find its place beyond hospital-based care, more family physicians are exploring how Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) can support clinical evaluation, guide next steps, and enhance care in day-to-day practice.

At the Kenya Association of Family Physicians (KAFP) gathering in Mombasa, held at Sarova Whitesands, GUSI joined a two-day hands-on learning experience focused on bringing POCUS into routine family medicine care.

Through live scanning, case-based discussions, and collaborative learning, physicians explored practical ways ultrasound may support clinical encounters across different patient care settings.

Thank you to KAFP, facilitators, partners, and participating physicians for contributing to ongoing conversations around strengthening family medicine through education and innovation, because practical tools become most meaningful when they help clinicians navigate everyday care with greater clarity.

📍 POCUS at Kaiser Fresno!

On May 11–12, Global Ultrasound Institute delivered a POCUS for Primary Care hands-on course in Fresno, California, hosted at Kaiser Fresno.

🩺 Over two days, clinicians engaged in structured, high-yield ultrasound training focused on integrating point-of-care ultrasound into primary care practice. The sessions emphasized real-time image acquisition, interpretation of core findings, and case-based clinical application.

With a diverse group of participants across varying levels of ultrasound experience, the course created a collaborative learning environment built on hands-on scanning, guided instruction, and clinical discussion.

Led by GUSI instructors Jeffrey Carness and Aicha Hull, learners worked through cardiac, lung, and abdominal ultrasound applications directly relevant to primary care workflows.

👏 Special thanks to Kaiser Fresno and all participating clinicians for their engagement and commitment throughout the training.

Strengthening Critical Care Through POCUS Education at CCSK 2026

In critical care, decisions are often made in moments where access to clear, timely information can influence outcomes. Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) continues to play an increasingly important role in strengthening bedside assessment and clinical decision-making particularly in resource-diverse environments.

On May 13, 2026, during the 13th Annual Scientific Congress of the Critical Care Society of Kenya (CCSK), GUSI supported a hands-on POCUS training session for participating healthcare professionals, focusing on practical applications in critical care settings.

Beyond skills training, this session reflects a shared commitment to making ultrasound education more accessible, practical, and directly applicable to patient care where it matters most.

We are grateful to the Critical Care Society of Kenya and all participants for engaging in this collaborative effort to advance critical care education and practice.

Because strengthening care begins with strengthening the knowledge behind every clinical decision.
