And deep gratitude to the Fetzer Institute, the Hewlett Foundation, Mazlo & other community sponsors — whose generous support made this weekend possible. We are humbled and honored by your belief in this vision.

PART 3/3: THE TRANSFORMATION
What if funders made themselves unnecessary?
You’ve seen the cycle. A nonprofit finally gets the big grant. They scale up, rent a big space, hire new staff. Then the first funding gap hits — and they’re back at zero.
We’ve normalized this. But we shouldn’t.
What if that money went to an asset — a space, equipment, tools — that one organization needs, but 10 or 15 others need too? They come together as a local guild. They govern those resources together.
Instead of paying rent, they’re collecting it.
This is called generational investing. And it’s how the Ancient Futures Fund is transforming philanthropy and impact investing.
We have a few seats left at the Founding Capital Circle.

OAXXANDA is an earth-centered Cultural Cooperative Development Center — a dynamic community of artists, activists, makers, builders, and meditators, with a profound commitment to fostering intergenerational connections among East Oakland residents, amplifying healing journeys through prioritizing Black, Indigenous, and POC members.
Their journey began in 2019 when Repaired Nations launched the Pan African Solidarity Economy Network and birthed the Live/Work Cooperative now known as OAXXANDA. This vision materialized in May 2023 when they purchased their land in Berry Creek, CA — nestled within the serene, unceded Konkow territory, flourishing into a beacon of rejuvenation, learning, and sovereignty for our people.
The video above is an AI-generated vision of what’s possible. The foundation has been laid. The dream is already taking root.
Ten years of building infrastructure for visionaries like this. We are honored to walk alongside them.

Picture a beautiful village. 50 farmers. A well-meaning investor shows up and says — let's help them.
Five farmers get loans. They buy tractors and equipment. They underprice everyone else, put them out of business, buy up all the land, and hire their neighbors as employees.
We wanted to help. Instead we made a monopoly and exported capitalism.
This is the problem with impact investing today.
There's a different way. We're building it. Oakland, May 16. 🔗Link in bio.
