A call for help the Oakland vfw will be holding are annual soup and chili dinner with silent auction on October 5th any gently used items or something thrown in closets that you would be willing to donate would be greatly appreciated we ate trying to make this the biggest silent auction to date and would be very thankful for your support again thank you veterans of the Oakland vfw.

seen a post from the coles County sheriff's office about corn is growing and to slow or stop at blind intersections I have been traveling back and forth to mattoon via county road 1100n I believe it's the road that comes out between lamman oil and landfill and I can honestly say I was shocked at how many people never slowed down to look or stop at blind intersections for some reason people think there is a right away but most intersections down that road has stop signs from either direction I would say it would be wise for the county to place stop signs at every intersection because by what I e witnessed the last couple of days it's only a matter of time before life's are lost or someone is seriously injured.
