We are actually doing it! After School program is now available! We had our first bus number 42 bringing first kids to our new After School program. Highlights are: $75 for daily attendance 3.30-5.00 PM. $100 for daily attendance 3.30-6.00 PM that includes enrollment in Taekwondo trainings 5.00-6.00 PM. Early dismissal days are on us. Drop In option for early dismissal days only is $10 per student per day for pre-registered participants. Join Our After School Taekwondo Program! One week left until school starts! From Summer Camp to After School! Following the success of our Summer Camp program (and celebrating the completion of our Fifth Week), we are getting ready to switch to an after school program for the 2026-2027 GCPS school year. As those who participated in our outreach programs begin signing up for this program, we wanted to note that in order to ensure the quality of our after school activities, we are capping the number of after school program participants to 15 kids on a first-come-first-served basis. We still have slots left as of today!

I am endlessly grateful to every kid who joined our summer camp programs, creating memorable times for everyone. Check for the details on our after school program in the flyer attached to this post after pictures of fun activities we had last week in camp!

One final note on camp: For the first day of school (Monday, August 31) GCPS will have a 3-hour early dismissal so we will open 3 hours early for an extra long first day to help the working parents!

For the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, OMAA is excited to announce a new after-school Taekwondo program, which will provide childcare and martial arts instruction to children every GCPS school day from after-school bus dropoff (we are a formal bus dropoff location) through 5 or 6 PM (flyer attached).

Because of generous grants from local sponsors to our nonprofit (e.g. First United, Oakland Walmart, Community Trust Foundation as outlined on our website (https://oaklandmartialarts.org/)), unlimited care from end of school until 5 PM is just $75 a month (less than $4 a day!) and students have the option to extend until 6 PM for an additional $25 a month.

We had a superb week of summer camp! Thanks to a Potomac Highlands United Way grant, several kids had the chance to join us free of charge. We still have space in our last weeks of Summer Camp this year (Aug 10-14 and Aug 24-28, 9 am - 2 pm each weekday). MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT MISS AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT IN THIS MESSAGE!
Last week of summer camp was a reminder for me why I do what I do and why our little school is the best thing that ever happen to me! I never had such easy going and gentle kids who were super nice to each other and creative in inventing new games and activities. And we still have four weeks left!
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
Oakland Martial Arts is very grateful to Potomac Highlands United Way for providing a Live United grant that will fully sponsor summer camp attendance for our next week (Mon-Fri July 27-31, 9 am - 2 pm) for 5 students excited to learn taekwondo but not financially able to pay for camp attendance.
