Nutrition. Workouts. Mindset.

Everyone acts like you’re supposed to keep all three perfectly balanced, all the time, forever.

Cute story. That’s not how balance works.

Real balance looks like this:

1. You eat well for 4 days, then eat cereal for dinner on day 5. That’s not failure. That’s Tuesday.
2. You crush your workouts for 2 weeks, then skip 3 in a row because life happened. That’s not falling off. That’s being human.
3. Your mindset is solid for a while, then one bad comment sends you spiraling for an afternoon. That’s not weakness. That’s a wobble.

The goal was never to never wobble.

The goal is to notice when you’re wobbling and get back on before you fully face plant.

That’s it. That’s the whole secret nobody tells you.

You don’t need perfect. You need to keep getting back up.

If you’re tired of white knuckling your way through “balance” and want an actual plan that accounts for real life (wobbles included), DM me STRONG and let’s build it together.

True story: a yoga instructor once asked me to leave her class. Her exact words? “You’re too big to take my class.” 🙃 (She was a real gem, truly.)

I walked out humiliated and quit yoga that day. Told myself it just wasn’t for me.

Guess what happened next?

Someone asked me to teach it. To show women that yoga is for every single body, not just the ones that look good in the leggings ad.

I said yes before I could talk myself out of it. It took a minute to find my footing, but now teaching yoga is one of my favorite parts of my week. Somewhere along the way I built a personal practice too, one that taught me how to actually breathe, reset my nervous system, and stop treating my body like the enemy.

Here’s what I want you to take from this:

1. Your body is not the reason you don’t belong somewhere. The room that doesn’t want you isn’t the room for you.
2. “Too big” is not a real category. It’s someone else’s discomfort dressed up as an opinion.
3. The thing that hurt you can still become the thing you’re meant for. Don’t let one bad room close the whole door.
4. Your body has carried you through more than you give it credit for. Trust it a little more.
5. Sometimes the class you swore off is exactly where you’re supposed to end up. Just maybe with a different teacher.

If you’ve ever been made to feel too much or not enough in a room you deserved to be in, I see you. And I promise you belong in more rooms than you think.

“I don’t want to bulk up” is the reason so many women skip the one thing that would actually get them results.

Let’s clear this up right now.

You will not “bulk” by picking up a dumbbell. Building serious muscle takes years of targeted training, heavy progressive overload, and a nutrition plan built specifically for that goal. It does not happen by accident. It does not happen in 3 months. And it definitely does not happen because you did squats twice a week.

You are not broken. You are not behind. You are not too far gone to feel at home in your body again.

I spent years hiding. Baggy clothes, side angles in photos, avoiding mirrors like they owed me money. I thought the discomfort would disappear once the weight did. It didn’t. Because the real work was never just physical.

Here’s what actually helped me come home to myself:
1. Stop waiting to “earn” comfort. You don’t need to lose 20 pounds to deserve to feel good in your clothes today.
2. Get curious about the discomfort instead of running from it. What is it actually telling you?
3. Move your body because it feels good, not as punishment for what you ate.
4. Surround yourself with people who see your growth, not just your goal weight.
5. Talk to yourself the way you’d talk to your best friend. Your body has been through a lot with you. It deserves some grace.

Healing your relationship with your body isn’t about willpower. It’s about rewiring years of stories you were never meant to carry in the first place.

You don’t have to do it alone.

Drop “READY” below and let’s talk about what’s really going on beneath the surface. 🤍

New name. Same heart. Same mission. 🩷

Hi, I’m Lisa Humphrey, and if you’ve been following along as Northern Wellness Roots, welcome to the next chapter:
Lisa Humphrey Coaching.

I’m a transformation and mindset coach, nutrition coach, personal trainer, keynote speaker, and bestselling author, but more than any title, I’m a woman who has lived every bit of what I teach.

I’ve stood in the room at 365 lbs believing my story was over. Now I stand on stages telling that same story, so other women know theirs isn’t over either.

I help women rebuild their bodies, their mindset, and their belief in what’s possible, through my monthly membership (meal plans, workouts, journal prompts, and coaching calls), my contained coaching groups, and 1:1 coaching built just for you.

The name changed. What I’m building for you didn’t.

Let’s be honest for a sec.

It’s never actually about the workout. Or the chips.

It’s about what you’re avoiding feeling.

The couch feels safer than the gym. The snack feels easier than sitting with whatever’s actually going on in your head. So you numb instead of move. You scroll instead of show up for yourself.

And then you beat yourself up for it, which makes you want to numb again. Fun cycle, right?

Here’s the truth: you don’t have a discipline problem. You have an avoidance problem. And no meal plan or 5am workout is gonna fix that until you deal with what’s underneath it.

This is literally the work we do inside my coaching. Mindset first. Body follows.

If you’re tired of the cycle, comment “READY” and let’s talk. 👇

I forgot what quiet felt like.

Constantly checking things off the list. Protein, water, calories, workouts, heart rate zones, sleep, building the business, chasing the promotion. Go go go until my brain never got the chance to just… stop.

And that’s exactly how we end up stuck. Anxious. Disconnected from the people we love. Gaining weight we can’t explain. Skipping workouts. Eating drive thru dinners we didn’t even want. Sleep that never actually feels like rest.

My coach challenged me this week to disconnect every single day. I rolled my eyes a little. I thought it would put me even more behind.

It’s doing the opposite.

Tonight I came to the lake to journal. I’m someone who avoids journaling because I’m always scared I’ll “do it wrong” (yes, even coaches have that voice). But tonight the words just flowed. The calm came back. I filled 3 pages.

Here’s what I want you to hear:

1️⃣ It doesn’t have to be hours. 15 minutes counts.
2️⃣ It doesn’t have to be journaling. Meditation, a walk, watching the sunset, putting your bare feet in the grass, all of it counts.
3️⃣ It’s not indulgent. It’s the thing that makes everything else possible.
4️⃣ Your nervous system needs the pause as much as your body needs the workout.
5️⃣ You cannot outwork a maxed out cortisol system. Recovery IS the strategy.

Start small. Start today. Your goals will still be there in 15 minutes.

What’s your version of the lake? Tell me below 👇

Or if you’re ready to actually build this into your life (and your mindset) instead of just talking about it, DM me “RECHARGE” and let’s talk.

You made the decision. That’s the hard part.

Showing up to change your life, to get healthy, to finally do something for you… that’s not small. So the least I can do is make sure the second you walk through that door, all you have to do is move.

Every class I teach is planned with intention. The music, the flow, the modifications, the energy. Because you deserve a space where you don’t have to think, you just have to show up.

1. Come as you are. No perfect outfit, no perfect fitness level required. Just you.
2. Modify without guilt. Your version of the move is still the move.
3. Focus on how you feel, not how you look. That’s where the real change happens.

The benefits of just being there:

Community. Accountability. An hour where your mind gets a break from everything else. Endorphins that actually shift your mood for the day. And proof, every single time, that you can keep a promise to yourself.

Here’s the deep part:

Deciding to take care of your mind and body isn’t a one time decision. It’s a decision you make over and over, especially on the days you don’t feel like it. It’s choosing yourself in a world that constantly asks you to choose everyone else first.

That class you almost skipped? That was you choosing you. And that adds up to a completely different life.

You don’t need another workout plan. You need to remember why you’re doing any of this in the first place.

Journaling is scary. It makes you sit with your own thoughts, your own excuses, your own patterns. No wonder most people avoid it like cardio day.

But here’s the truth: your mindset drives your results more than your meal plan ever will. And journaling is one of the fastest ways to get your mindset in check.

3 ways it directly impacts your weight loss and health:

1. It catches your patterns before they catch you. You start noticing the triggers, the excuses, the 9pm kitchen visits, before they turn into a spiral.
2. It keeps your “why” alive. Motivation fades. A written why doesn’t. You can go back to it on the hard days.
3. It turns emotions into data instead of decisions. Instead of eating the feeling, you write the feeling. Huge difference.

“I don’t have time” and “it doesn’t work” are officially retired excuses. Grab a notebook, grab your phone notes app, I don’t care. Just start writing.

New month, new nervous system. 🌿

Every month I light palo santo and I ask myself the same question: what am I still carrying that isn’t mine to carry anymore?

Old habits. Old stories about my body. Old “I’ll start Monday” energy.

Here’s what I know after losing 200+ pounds and rebuilding my entire relationship with food and my body: you cannot out-diet a nervous system that’s stuck in survival mode. You cannot white-knuckle your way to lasting change. The cleanse has to happen on the inside first.

So this month I’m not starting with a meal plan. I’m starting with a release.

Release the guilt from last month’s “off” days.
Release the all-or-nothing thinking.
Release the version of you that thinks you have to earn rest, food, or grace.

Then we build. Real food. Real movement. Real healing, from the root, not just the surface.

That’s the work. That’s always been the work.

What are you releasing this month? Tell me below 👇

Comment “READY” and I’ll send you the first step.
