Whether I’m waking up at home, in an Airbnb in New Zealand, or a hotel room in Nashville…

My go-to morning routine doesn’t change a whole lot.

It pretty much always includes something to support my physical body, something to support my mind/mental health, and something to support and check in with my emotional state.

1. Movement - of any kind. At home it’s a class at the gym and/or walking the dog. Sometimes it’s just getting on my mat for a few minutes or jumping/shaking/dancing it out 🤪

2. Meditation - sitting in stillness, connecting with my breath, setting intentions for the day, or a 5-10 minute guided practice with the app

3. Gratitude - expressing out-loud, journaling, or just in my head as part of a meditation. If I’m not feeling particularly grateful, it’s asking 2 simple questions, “how are you feeling?” and “what do you need?”

Then I listen for the answers.

Sometimes just acknowledging feelings & needs is enough. Sometimes there is something simple you can do for yourself - call a friend, play your favorite song, give yourself a hug, make a nourishing meal.

Physical. Mental. Emotional. 💫

That’s it. It can be 15 minutes or 3 hours or anything in between. And it makes a huge difference in how the rest of my day goes.

You can make tweaks to fit your schedule and needs, but you gotta start somewhere ✨🌅

And every time, I pretty much just went right back to my old habits as soon as Feb hit.

Until I created my own version of what I wish existed to help me figure out what habits I would actually stick to after the ‘challenge’ period was over.

If you’re stuck in a cycle of always jumping on the latest self-help or personal development bandwagon…

Thinking the next new meditation app or hot yoga class or diet is going to fix all your problems if you could just muster the will power to stick to it…

I’m sorry to say, it’s probably not 😐

Until you start choosing to be more intentional with the habits that work for YOU, not the just going through the motions of whatever someone else said you should do…

Then you’ll probably just keep spinning your wheels, feeling like you’re not making any progress towards your goals.

We are moving towards the winter solstice ❄️ and I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re feeling a little off as the days get shorter and shorter.

Here are 3 small daily habits that will actually help reset your energy (& mood!!) this winter:

1. Move your body in whatever way feels doable today. Stretch, shake, dance in your kitchen, walk around the block or do a few air squats at your desk in between meetings. It all counts 💃

2. Shift your sleep schedule to line up with the sun. Try going to bed a bit earlier, waking up earlier, and getting outside in the morning for natural light before it turns dark at 4pm. 🌅

3. Connect with at least one person IRL each day. Even a phone call or FaceTime can work to boost your mood in ways a text message or email simply cannot. 👯‍♀️

Try these 3 simple things whenever you need a lil mini reset (post-Thanksgiving anyone??) 👇🏼

1️⃣Get back to basics with nutrition:
- Cooking/eating simple meals at home
- Swap caffeine with herbal tea
- Lay off the booze for a few weeks

2️⃣Reassess your exercise/movement habits (or lack thereof):
- Ask yourself: what phase of life am I in now and what’s realistic for me with my current schedule?
- Make a plan and involve a friend/accountability buddy

3️⃣Return to at least one daily mindfulness practice:
- Gratitude journal
- 5 mins of mindful breathing or stretching
- Guided meditation
