Smith College EKTA
Smith College's South Asian Student Org Founded in 1987, EKTA is a proud and active member of the Unity Orgs of Smith College.
"EKTA" means "unity" in several languages spoken in South Asia. The organization aims to weave together its members' languages, cultures, faiths, and identities in order to form a community among South Asians studying at Smith. Partnered with student organizations, staff, and faculty, EKTA strives to bring the most relevant and engaging issues to both the South Asian community as well as to those interested in the region.

The deadline to submit blurbs for the 2019-2020 cabinet has been extended to midnight tonight! Don’t forget to apply!
Here’s a little about Fareesa Dar’s experience being on the board this year:
I'm one of the publicity chairs for the EKTA cabinet and have been involved with EKTA since my first year here at Smith. I love being able to connect with my culture while being away from home, and helping other people on campus with the same. Being a publicity chair has been really different but fun to be able to design posters for events. One of my favorite parts about being in EKTA is learning about other South Asian cultures and getting to know more about how diverse South Asia is!

EKTA Cabinet Elections for 2019-2020 is here! Blurbs are due tonight by midnight.
Here’s a little about Dhami Samikshya’s experience being on the board this year:
I am one of the first year representatives for the EKTA cabinet. EKTA has been an important part of my Smith experience so far. Not only do I have a better understanding of what goes into creating a successful event at Smith, but also a greater appreciation for the culture and diversity of the South Asian region. EKTA events and meetings always make me feel closer to home. As a part of the cabinet, I get the chance to contribute to making others feel the same and I love every part of it!

EKTA Cabinet Elections for 2019-2020 is here! Blurbs are due Wednesday, April 3rd by midnight.
Here’s a little about Urvi Savant’s experience being on the board this year:
I’m one of the publicity chairs for the EKTA cabinet, and what I like most about my job is the close circle of friends I've made. It feels nice to be able to maintain that cultural connection with others when we're all far from home, and I like being part of the effort to provide that same resource for the rest of the general body. Being part of EKTA has been important to my experience at Smith, and I've made many connections and learned a lot through my roles in planning and publicizing events.
