💛 Parents, We’re in This Together 💛
As we prepare to begin another school year at Westminster Preschool, I want to take a moment to encourage our parents, too.
We spend a lot of time talking about preparing children for preschool—reading together, practicing independence, learning to share, talking about feelings, and getting comfortable being away from Mom and Dad. And all of those things are wonderful! But there is something else I want every parent to hear:
You don’t have to do it perfectly. ❤️
Parenting little ones is beautiful, exhausting, funny, messy, rewarding, and sometimes downright hard. There are mornings when everyone gets out the door smiling…and mornings when simply finding two matching shoes feels like an accomplishment! 😊
At Westminster Preschool, we don’t just want to teach your children—we want to come alongside your family.
Here are a few simple ways you can help prepare your child for preschool at home:
📚 READ TOGETHER
Even a few minutes each day makes a difference. Let them choose favorite books, ask questions about the pictures, predict what might happen next, and simply enjoy the closeness that comes from sharing a story.
💬 TALK TOGETHER
Talk about your day, the things you see outside, colors, shapes, feelings, animals—anything! These everyday conversations are building vocabulary and language skills.
🧸 MAKE TIME TO PLAY
Play is how young children learn. Pretending, building, creating, singing, getting messy, and exploring are all important parts of their development.
🌱 ENCOURAGE INDEPENDENCE
Let them try! Putting on shoes, washing hands, cleaning up toys, carrying their backpack, asking for help, and practicing bathroom skills may take a little longer, but every small success builds confidence.
❤️ PRACTICE SEPARATION WITH REASSURANCE
Remind your child that grown-ups always come back. Speak positively about school and their teachers. Your confidence helps them feel safe and secure.
And parents, please give yourself grace in the process.
God chose you to be your child’s parent. You know their little heart in a way no one else does. Our job is not to replace you, but to partner with you—to love, encourage, teach, and nurture the precious child God has entrusted to all of us during these preschool years.
As your director, I want you to know that I will be praying for our families throughout this school year—for wisdom when parenting feels difficult, patience on the long days, peace in the uncertain moments, and plenty of joy in the little things that pass much too quickly.

It truly takes a village, and I am so thankful Westminster Preschool gets to be part of yours.
We are here to learn together, grow together, pray together, and support one another as we help these little ones become all God created them to be. 🌿✝️
