Hello Wildcats! I'm so sorry to share that the NLRHS All-Classes Reunion Fish Fry, Aug 9, 2024, is CANCELLED!
My event partner and I have come to the sad conclusion that
to continue forward would be financially impractical.
There will be NO MORE All-Classes NLRHS Reunions planned,
(not by me, in any case) unless someone wishes to shoulder the
responsibility. I'm happy to share contact info for the caterer and venue.
After over 3 decades of planning the annual event, in 2022
Billy Ed White hosted his "grand finale" NLRHS All-Classes Reunion Fish Fry at Sherwood Forest. He handed it off to me because I've coordinated monthly NLRHS Wildcats Supper Club events since 2010. I planned the 2023 All-Classes event, which turned out to be less than successful, mainly due to the caterer. She changed the rules, and decreased the quality of food as well as the number of catering workers who cooked, served, and refilled the buffet. Despite the fact the price was increased from $15, in 2022 to $20 per person, the evening ended with me paying for 40 people who had RSVP'd, but in the end, did NOT attend. Learned my lesson, and I won't do that again.
Following that event, we sought & found another catfish
caterer. Better quality food & better service...but all that quality
costs more. However, a higher guaranteed attendance number was required, whether we reach that number or not. Again, likely
resulting in paying for people who chose not to attend. Sherwood Forest has also increased their fee to $100/hr.
To break even, our fee per person WAS to have been $25 per
person. Too much for a lot of folks in today's uncertain
inflation.
One last informal event suggestion, alternative to a catered
event: Rent a pavilion in Burns Park and have an afternoon pot
luck to share (or bring your own food to eat) picnic, in the
fall when it's cooler. Charge a small fee per person, or pass the
hat, to pay for the pavilion rental.

Baney, Nancy Lynn (McCarty)

Nancy Lynn Baney McCarty
July 16, 1948 - August 9, 2023
NLRHS Class of 1966

Nancy Baney McCarty passed away August 9, 2023. She was born July 16, 1948, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Frederick and Virginia Baney of North Little Rock.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Mike McCarty, her sister Carolyn Lasiter (Mike), step brother Wayne Wallace(Rebecca) and niece Shannon Lafferty.

Nancy graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1966, and later attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. She went on to have a career as a flight attendant with American Airlines for 30 years. She and Mike enjoyed traveling extensively all over the world and were avid sports fan.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Humane Society of Pulaski County 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock AR 72210.

Catherine Jill Parker

Catherine Jill Parker passed away on October 12, 2019. Jill was surrounded by her brother, Jack Parker, family, and friends at the Arizona Burn Unit in the Maricopa Medical Center, Phoenix, Arizona. Jill was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas on July 18, 1948 and was the youngest of two children to Jack Edward Parker and Lois Collins Parker.

Jill grew up in Arkansas and attended Park Hill Elementary School. She graduated high school at North Little Rock High School in 1966 where she was part of the cheerleading team. Shortly after high school, Jill married Robert J. Guthridge and had a son – Robert (Jason) Guthridge (age 50). In 1979, Jill and her family moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas where she began her legal career as a legal secretary for Ramsay & Cox until 1986.

Jill remarried Chuck DeWall and relocated to Phoenix Arizona in 1989 where she built a network of friends and resided until her death. Jill continued her legal career with Steven Copple and then worked for many years with personal injury attorney Charles M. Brewer and continued with John Brewer and Dane Wood of The Brewer Law Firm until her untimely death.

Jill was a caring, gracious, and loving woman. She was an avid reader, a wordsmith, enjoyed politics and music, an animal lover, and adored her many cats and those cats around her neighborhood. Jill was known for her southern accent, quick wit, funny sense of humor, and one always to bring a smile. Jill enjoyed surrounding herself with her many friends and family: brother Jack Parker and her extended family in Georgia; Leslie and Bob Barrett and their children, Carter and Chase; her “work” family which she loved and cared for like her own and Sherri Farmer. Jill’s grandchildren, Carter and Chase Barrett, lovingly referred to Jill as “Juju.”

Jill is survived by her brother, Jack Parker, and her son, Jason Guthridge.

A celebration of Jill’s life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at the Arizona Country Club, 5668 E Orange Blossom Ln, Phoenix, AZ 85018, (480) 947-7666.

Family and friends will gather in North Little Rock in November. The location and date will be announced at a future time.
