If you are from this area, many of you, like us, have made core memories at the site of the tragic accident yesterday at Lake Macbride. Words fail in these circumstances, and it is probably right for words to be few. How should a community respond when a child dies? How should a community respond when a beloved teacher loses their life? For those of us at a distance, the least we can do is pray and be a friend to those whom this hits way too close to home. For those in closer proximity, may we serve every need possible and be source of comfort. Not necessarily with words but with presence. These horrific circumstances often offer far more questions than answers, but let us not be a community looking to answer questions, but answer the call to just be there and love. Let us remember this is a life changing grief, which will require a life changing love to consistently be there. The deepest anguish is not usually in the shocking moments immediately after things like this take place, but in the weeks, months and years after. It requires a long term love. May we be that community.
As parents, our heart faints at news like this and will make us hold our children so tightly.
As daycare and school leaders, although tempted to be overcome by fear, it challenges us to appreciate, cherish and love each beautiful moment we have with each child and student.
As followers of Jesus, it causes us to cling to our Savior and remember that even in death, there is yet HOPE.
Please join us in praying for these precious lives that were loss and those who were directly or indirectly impacted in anyway. May we also lift up all of the first responders and search and rescue workers in this time 🙏
