Please help us welcome our new Adjunct Instructor of Guitar, Michael New!

Michael New is a Las Vegas-based music educator, guitarist, author, and multi-instrumentalist with more than twenty-two years of teaching experience and over three decades of performance experience.

He serves as Education Director at Family Music Centers and also works as a music paraprofessional with the Clark County School District. Michael previously served as an Adjunct Instructor of Guitar at the University of the Incarnate Word.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance from Kennesaw State University, where he graduated summa cm laude after studying with Mary Akerman. He later pursued graduate studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio with Matthew Dunne. His musical background includes classical and jazz guitar, bass guitar, piano, and extensive solo and ensemble performance experience.

As an author, Michael has written three instructional guitar books and numerous arrangements, transcriptions, and educational materials. He currently maintains a private studio of more than 50 students.

In addition to teaching, Michael remains active as a performer and arranger, with experience spanning classical music, jazz, musical theater, ensemble performance, and contemporary styles.
