One month later... we're still reflecting on what this evening meant. 🤍

On the 11th of June, something very special happened in Athens.

For the first time, the Greece community came together for an evening dedicated to dialogue, connection and inspiration.

Our panel discussion, Generational Voices: Women in Lighting – Then, Now & Next, brought together three remarkable lighting designers representing different generations of the profession:

We were also honoured to welcome Sharon Stammers and Martin Lupton from Light Collective, founders of the global Women in Lighting initiative, who travelled from the UK to celebrate this milestone together with the Greek community.

The response from the community was beyond anything we imagined.

The event sold out within just a few days, with a growing waiting list. More importantly, the conversations throughout the evening confirmed something we had hoped all along:

If you search online for “lighting designer on site”, you will mostly see men.

Let’s change that.
Construction sites ARE places for women! We have zero doubt about it.

And this belief inspired the creation of the new Women in Lighting Utility Belt, designed by formalighting, one of the amazing supporters of this project from day one.

This belt is made for real work on site, to carry your phone, notebook, light meter, and the tools you use every day.

And now, we are launching the challenge.

If you received your WIL Utility Belt in Frankfurt:

1️⃣ Take a photo of yourself on site wearing your belt

3️⃣ (Optional) Share it on social using and tag
