It’s that time again. Robotics is starting back up. We will have our parents meeting next Thursday the 13 or August 18th at 5:30 in room M205 in the middle school. Enter through door 13. We will go over how the season will look along with getting all of the waivers signed.

Day 1 of NJSP Robotics Camp is in the books!

Our campers kicked off the week by learning the basics of robotics and engineering before getting their hands on VEX robots. They began building their own robots and had a blast getting behind the controls during a fun game of Robot Tag using VEX base robots!

Today’s activities focused on teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and learning how to safely operate a robot—all while having a great time.

We’re excited to see everyone’s robots continue to come together tomorrow as campers dive into even more building, programming, and engineering challenges!

The NJSP Drone Team won the North Central Regional Tournament beating out ten different states and Canada. We will be coming through town around 8 pm and would love to have the community support! We will be coming down 39 to US 10 back to the school.

What a day at the EV Kart competition at Purdue University.

Our qualifying run didn’t go as planned—we were black flagged early and had to head to the pits. But this team doesn’t quit.

We bounced back in the sprint race, earning a spot in the fast heat and finishing 9th out of 12 karts. During the lunch break, the students went to work—making a key rear sprocket change to give us more top-end speed heading into the main event.

Starting the championship race in 10th, the team nailed the green flag and charged their way up to 5th by the end of lap one. From there, it was all grit and determination.

When the checkered flag flew, we crossed the line in 4th place out of 22 karts—just off the podium.

We couldn’t be more proud of this group for their resilience, problem-solving, and teamwork. They proved today that setbacks don’t define you—how you respond does.

Students in Mr. Shively’s welding classes have been collaborating with Mr. Clifford’s engineering classes to design, build, and wire custom go-karts for the 2026 Powersports Competition hosted by Subaru of Indiana Automotive. The teams will begin testing next week as they prepare to compete next Friday and Saturday.

The project has been a true collaboration between the two programs. Engineering students first designed the go-karts using CAD software and created detailed engineering drawings. Those drawings were then sent to the welding classes, where students cut the steel and welded the frames together. After fabrication, the karts moved to the paint booth to receive custom paint jobs designed by the students.

The final stage of the project includes mounting the electrical components and completing final assembly, which the students hope to finish by Friday. This hands-on experience has allowed students to apply skills in engineering design, manufacturing, welding, electrical systems, and teamwork while preparing for real-world competition.
