Little Sprouts Learning Garden

Little Sprouts Learning Garden During play children begin to understand how to label and communicate their emotions, furthering their sense of empathy.

Little Sprouts Learning Garden is an emergent play-based, child-centered learning community where meaningful experiences are created through wonder and play, with the magic of their own imagination. While playing, they build confidence, develop active listening, and learn to work as a community. Here a child's innate curiosity is encouraged while serving their sensory, social, emotional, and cogni

tive needs. Growth and knowledge are developed with purpose, while carefully being brought into awareness of the world in which they live.

Our Hedgehog Pod had the most magical day exploring the The Huntington Library 🌿✨

Surrounded by beautiful gardens, our little explorers connected deeply with what we’ve been learning. They saw firsthand how plants grow, how spaces are cared for, and how gardens can bring communities together.
🫶
We wandered, wondered, observed, and imagined… noticing tiny details, asking big questions, and experiencing the joy of learning through nature. It was so special to watch the children make connections between our learning habitats and the real world in such a meaningful way.

Days like this remind us that learning is everywhere! When we nurture curiosity, it truly blooms!

This past week brought us sunshine, curiosity, and a meaningful moment from nature. One of our kiddos found a small lizard, and after a class vote, we lovingly named him Skelly. We gently observed and cared for him, but soon realized his life had passed.
We took time to talk about life, respect, and how nature teaches us, even in still moments like this.
The following day (after keeping Skelly safely preserved in the fridge) we continued this learning by carefully and respectfully exploring basic anatomy through a guided, optional dissection, with a strong focus on care, intention, and respect.
Afterward, we honored Skelly with a small burial ceremony, giving thanks for the learning he brought us. 🤍🌿

Wiggly Worms Visitors🪱
This class had some very special guests — wiggly worms!
We explored different varieties, measured our squirmy friends, and even had a little worm race to see which one would wiggle the farthest.
The kids loved observing how each worm moved and learning how these tiny helpers keep our soil healthy and growing.
When our worm adventures were finished, we made sure each one was placed back into a cozy little home in the soil to continue their important garden work.

🌱 Planting Tiny Seeds, Growing Big Dreams 🌱

Our little gardeners have been busy getting their hands in the soil and planting tiny seeds in the garden. With lots of teamwork, curiosity, and excitement, each seed found a cozy place to grow.
We’ve been learning that plants need sunshine, water, patience, and care. The kids have happily taken on the role of “garden helpers,” checking on our sprouts and making sure they have everything they need.
Just like the seeds in our garden, this wonderful group of learners is growing a little more every day.

Lunches of Love is Back!

We’re excited to once again work with Brown Bag Lady, a wonderful organization that provides meals and essential items to our neighbors in Los Angeles. Together, we’ll be creating and donating lunches to support their mission and spread kindness throughout our community.

Everyone is invited to help! Children and adults of all ages are invited to join in by decorating lunch bags, donating food items, or helping assemble lunches. Younger children can add bright colors, beautiful designs, stickers, and encouraging words to bring smiles to those who receive them, while older children and adults help put the lunches together.

Another big way to help is by donating lunch items! Every contribution brings us closer to our goal and ensures that each bag is filled with care. Whether you donate a few items or enough for several lunches, your support makes a meaningful difference. We’re collecting the approved lunch items listed below, and all donations are deeply appreciated.

Last year, our community came together and successfully made 150 lunches—and this year, we hope to reach or even surpass that goal! This is a meaningful way to come together, share creativity, and show compassion in action.

Let’s fill each bag with love and positivity—one meal, one message, and one bright design at a time. 💛
