We have heard back from the Cecil Sheriff’s Office regarding their policy for folks with civil immigration detainers.

Currently, they are in compliance with the Community Trust Act. However, Sheriff Adams has also sued the state of Maryland in hopes he doesn’t have to abide the Community Trust Act…🤦‍♂️

Also that Scott Adams, Sheriff of Cecil County is suing the state of Maryland so that he can still work with ICE to detain Navy fathers

Update on the public information act request filed a few weeks ago regarding the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office compliance with Community Trust Act:

To date the sheriff’s office has not explained or provided any directives they may or may not have in place regarding how they interact with people who might have a civil immigration detainer on them.

By contrast, other counties in Maryland have provided explicit language that governs these actions and what their deputies can and can not do

We will continue to push for this vital information that they are required by law to provide

TPS is expiring for Haitians today

Outside of the egregious evil this is to our neighbors, it will wreak havoc on the labor force of the Eastern Shore

The short sighted hatred of immigrants will tear families apart and damage the economy of the eastern shore

Update on the Public Information Request regarding Community Trust Act language

The county states they weren’t the custodian of record (although CCSO is a county department but whatever), so we have redirected our request directly to the sheriff’s office.

We aren’t optimistic given how much CCSO likes to hide information, but we will keep you updated as this keeps moving forward
