Mrs. C forgot to post a pre- holiday activity done by my 1st grade and kindergarteners!! They had to help the Grinch come up with a new outfit using different materials and focusing on the planning and design process prior to using materials! Such amazing creativity!

This rotation, 4th and 5th grade worked on communication and collaboration and how to fail up! They made Keva bridges and then Keva cliffhangers. There was a lot of laughter and also frustration and it got LOUD! 3rd grade had to work together to make a tower at least one foot tall using only pencils, clothespins, popsicle sticks and notecards. 2nd grade had to work together to make a cantilever that jutted out 6 inches from the side of the table and could support a tennis ball. 1st grade practiced cutting and being creative with different shapes and Kindergarten practiced folding and cutting to make symmetrical shapes.

Week 3! 4th and 5th grade did Minecraft Selfies using measurement and symmetry, 3rd grade practiced teamwork stacking cups with different criteria, 2nd grade used the scientific method and learned about Alexander Graham Bell by making Pan Flutes, 1st grade discussed what makes a good teammate and built index card towers, Kindergarten used creativity to make circles into something new and Pre-K used wiki sticks to make the letters of their names. The first two weeks of STEAM with Ms. C have been a success! Week 1 consisted of back to STEAM routines and simple challenges and week 2 consisted of communication challenges for 3-5 and teamwork challenges for K-2. PreK worked on becoming familiar with STEAM materials. 💚💛
