[04/03/19]   In the next year, Fetter Healthcare Network will be partnering with Jerry Zucker Middle to create a onsite medical facility for Zucker families and students. This medical facility will be located hopefully at Jerry Zucker Middle and it will be staffed with certified medical personnel. This medical site will be open to all families of students at Goodwin Elementary, Lambs elementary, Hunley Park Elementary, Zucker Middle School and Stall high school.

This will be income based medical coverage so you will need to provide proof of income and identification. If you are interested in hearing more information on this wonderful opportunity please see Mr. Crankfield Thursday night April 4, 2019 at Jerry Zucker during our Report Card Pickup Night from 5pm - 7pm. School Choice - Charleston County School District

The School Choice/Magnet application process for the Charleston County School District will be open on February 11, 2019, at 12:00 PM and will close on March 11, 2019, at 4:00 PM for paper application drop-off at designated sites and 11:59 PM for online application submissions.

Paper applications will be available on February 11 to be printed from the district website or available for pickup at any one of the eight designated CCSD application receiving sites or through your school’s guidance counselor.

From February 11, 2019, until the application window closes on March 11, 2019, completed paper applications may be submitted at one of eight designated application receiving sites. Please visit this link at for full details.

Career Symposium 2018 @ Jerry Zucker Middle School was EPIC! This year’s theme was “Bolting to Success! Sparking Interest in our Futures!” Thank you to our AMAZING speakers for helping to make this event a success. Our Scholars definitely enjoyed your presentations. Also, thank you to my planning committee - (Jordane Harvey Lotts, Kylene Gerideau-Grant, Andrea Anderson-Gadsden, Shorace 'Comic Relief' Guider, Dwayne Cfield, Antionette Green and Jaime Downey), staff, teachers, Admin, cafeteria staff and to Katie Muehleisen and her Lighting Bean Coffee scholar team for helping bring the vision to fruition. Parents please Come out to Zucker tomorrow night and receive information on PTO, parenting classes, cooking classes, Banking, volunteering, MAP testing and info on Title I. This event will include information on parent portal, PTO, volunteering at Zucker, tips on collaborating with the school and Banking and Credit info from Wells Fargo Representatives. Hello parents and students we hope you all had a great weekend. Tomorrow Tuesday October 30th 2018, JZMS will host a Farmers Market Style Produce Distribution! The event is FREE and open to all families, please bring a bag or box to fill up with fruits and veggies. The Low Country Food Bank will be donating lots of fruits and vegetables to any family in the Zucker, Goodwin and Hunley Park Elementary community. The event will be after school from 3:30-5:30pm located in the Jerry Zucker Middle School parking lot. If you do not need any extra fruits or veggies please inform someone who may need it. Dear Parents, Students and Staff:

Jerry Zucker Middle School is celebrating Red Ribbon Week on Monday, October 22, 2018 through Thursday, October 25, 2018. Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign when millions of Americans wear red ribbons to show that we are united for a drug-free society.


We also have the following activities planned for the week:

Monday, October 22, 2018 – “STAY IN THE GAME...BE DRUG-FREE DAY”
• Wear your favorite team/college shirts/jersey with their uniform pants
***All sleeveless shirts/jerseys must be worn with a tee-shirt underneath***
• Door-Decorating can begin. Doors will be judge on Thursday morning

Tuesday, October 23, 2018 – “SUPERHERO DAY...YOU HAVE THE POWER TO SAY NO”
• Wear your favorite superhero shirt with your uniform pants
• Guest Speaker in the Media Center from MUSC on “Just Say Know: Understanding the Science of Addiction” (By Sign-up Only)

• Wear as much Orange as possible
• All Door-Decorating Must Be Completed by 3:30pm.
• All Poster Must Be Submitted by 3:00pm.
• Drug-Free Assembly during 7th Grade Exploratory – 6th & 8th Grade classes will sign-up to attend. (More Details Forthcoming)

Thursday, October 25, 2018 - “WE’RE TOO WISE…DRUGS ARE ‘OLD’ SCHOOL”
• Everyone can dress-up like a “senior citizen”
• Doors will be judged
• PBIS Fall Festival (More Details Forthcoming)
Throughout the week:
• Morning announcers will read facts, tips & trivia to promote being drug-free.
• Morning announcers will recite the Drug-Free Pledge daily throughout the week.
• Winners announced for the door decorating contest on Thursday.
• We will have a poster contest – All posters must be submitted by Wednesday, October 24, 2108. Winners for each grade level will be announced on Thursday, October 25, 2018 during the Assembly. (Please see the back of flier for Poster Contest Submission Guidelines)

Poster Contest - Guidelines
In order to promote the mission of Red Ribbon Week, we will be sponsoring a poster contest this year. All students are encouraged to participate and submit a poster. All posters must be completed by Wednesday, October 24, 2018.


Artwork should be submitted on standard size Poster board.

Judging will be based on the following:
• Use of the theme
• Neatness
• Originality
• Creativity

You must have the following information on the back of the submission:
• Student's Full Name
• Homeroom Teacher’s Name
• Grade Level

All students are encouraged to participate!!! Prizes will be awarded to the 1st place winners for each grade level. All entries must be received by Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Submit all entries to the Art Room or Guidance Department.

Door Decorating Contest -Guidelines
In order to promote the mission of Red Ribbon Week, we will be sponsoring a door decorating contest again this year. Each homeroom will be given the opportunity to decorate their door to reflect the theme of Red Ribbon. All doors must be completed by close of business on Thursday, October 25, 2018.



JUDGING: Judging will be done by a group of impartial individuals who will evaluate each door on the following:
• Originality
• Creativity
• Completeness/Visual Appeal
• Use of the Theme
All classes are encouraged to participate!!! Prizes will be awarded to the 1st place winners for each grade level and exploratory classes. All doors must be completed by close of Business on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.

JZMS is now partnering with The Low Country Food Bank to help feed families in our community. We will be transitioning from our original food boxes to a actual onsite food pantry. This will be a easier and more effective method to help feed our families who need it. The Pantry will officially be open after November 2018. Come on down and check it out! [09/16/18]   Hello, we hope everyone has had a safe weekend during the storm, CCSD has announced that students and teachers will return to school Monday morning September 17, 2018. School will operate on normal bell times. Buses will also be operating on its normal schedule so please plan accordingly.
