Do you know why we can easily get addicted to anything?
There are many reasons but a couple BIG ONES are:
1️⃣- Not resolving underlying issues like negative emotions from the past or limiting beliefs that can hold you back from having the life you desire.
When we don’t deal with or heal past issues, it’s easy for someone to numb the past with behaviors, substances, habits.
2️⃣- Your brain develops neural pathways when you start a habit.
Think of a neural pathway as a path in the grass that’s been worn down by people walking on it.
When the habit starts to form, this habit helps you to either “numb out” (not dealing with an issue) or it helps light up neurotransmitters in the brain.
These neurotransmitters are also known as the “feel-good hormones”.
When someone eats the food that temporarily makes them feel better, it lights up the feel-good hormones.
The same with shopping…
Same with drugs or alcohol…
Obviously some of these addictive habits aren’t necessarily bad for you.
However, the brain develops these patterns, habits, pathways and on an unconscious level, you will continue to seek the same pathways your brain has become used to.
SO HOW DO YOU OVERCOME THESE PATHWAYS??
Address the unconscious behaviors!
HOW DO YOU ADDRESS THE UNCONSCIOUS?
Make them CONSCIOUS and HEAL!
One of THE BEST pieces of education I accomplished was getting certified in a couple of healing modalities that help people overcome negative emotions like anger, sadness, fear, guilt, shame…
SHAME is one of the biggest issues when it comes to addictive patterns.
Overcoming these negative emotions has been absolutely paramount with helping all of my clients.
Regardless of what they were needing to recover from!
