Last week, Dr. Daniel Guttentag took his HTMT 354 (Hospitality and Tourism Technology) class on a field trip to the Hampton Inn Charleston-Historic District. The class toured the beautiful property, and the General Manager, Sales Manager, and a Hilton Area Director of Sales spoke to students about how the property utilizes various technologies in its operations and marketing.

This experience will be used throughout the semester to help provide real-world context to the lessons and technology strategies covered in the course. This field trip was incorporated into the course as part of a series of innovative teaching initiatives supported by a Nassetta Fellowship.

Our year of celebrating turning 20 kicks off on May 3rd with a mixer for alumni and industry partners! The event will be complimentary but space will be limited. RSVP soon if you want to join us. We are excited to share what we’ve got in the works and to celebrate all we’ve accomplished together, with you.

Light refreshments and beverages from our local alumni and industry partners will be served up Charleston hospitality style. Expect to see treats from partners like 82 Queen, Hyman’s, Kiawah Island Golf Resort, The Francis Marion Hotel, and more. Our event management students are also working up some fun treats for those of you who join us…you don’t want to miss this!
