The Kent State Stark English Club

September 22 is Hobbit day! Hobbit day celebrates the birthdays of Bilbo and Frodo from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. Happy Hobbit Day!

Join us this semester for our English Club meetings! Our first meeting will be September 26 at 5:00 PM. We hope to see you there as we talk about Women’s Literature.

Happy Fall semester! On Tuesday, September 12th the English Department at Kent State Stark is hosting a pizza party for all English major & minors. Join us for some free food and meet and talk with other English folk! They’ll also be giving away free copies of Thi Bui’s “The Best We Could Do.” Whether you’re a declared English major/minor or thinking about it, come join us!

Congratulations graduates! We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see all the wonderful things you are going to do. A special shout-out to our Sigma Tau Delta members Katie Miller and Lane Hollis. We’re going to miss you!

Today, a group of students went to the Tudor Exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art. A big thank you to Dr. Martinez and Dr. Starkey for making it possible and joining us. It was a wonderful way to end the semester.

On Tuesday, Dr. Baker’s Women’s Literature class had their final. For this, they decided to do a creative option and hold a gallery walk. There were so many different projects ranging from academic posters, artwork, music, and even food. Everyone did a wonderful job! Congratulations to everyone on finishing the semester. We hope you all have a wonderful summer!

Last night we held the Sigma Tau Induction ceremony. Congratulations to new inductees Jacob and Amber! Thank you to Kent Stark faculty, family members, and Sigma Tau members for joining us.

Sigma Tau Delta is a society of academically motivated individuals who foster literacy and the study of English. You do NOT have to be an English major to join. Contact student leaders Austin Vandegrift and Rachael Wayts if you’re interested.
