PORTRAIT | "Hometown Self-Portrait 2”
Another from that project this summer. I didn’t get back often enough, mostly because it’s an hour bike ride each way, and the window for the light is small. But maybe now that I know the process, I can make it work at other times of year, too, which would only enrich the story.

PORTRAIT | "Jeff Jean Philippe."
Jeff dances. Full stop. Start again. Full stop, again. Again, Jeff is a dancer. His center of gravity is a pendulum. He listens for the moments between the moments, and moves with them.

PORTRAIT | "Elmer Martínez"
Preparing for his senior year at , Elmer is already a professional dancer and instructor, lighting designer, and spoken word poet. As we worked on his porch in the waning afternoon light, he schooled me about hip hop's origins in Salsa. Elmer radiates hometown pride for Lowell, a mill town north of Boston, where the boricuas and slam poetry are fierce.

PORTRAIT | "Shane Anthony Smith"
I got to photograph this week, in his kitchen. Shane was born in Jamaica, moved to Boston after college, has great taste in House (music), and works in biotech. Sweet, generous, and thoughtful, I hope we get to work together again!

PORTRAIT | "Albert Mazanti”
Albert was one of those legendary couchsurfers you offer to let stay two weeks longer than you ever thought you would. Producer, thinker, traveler, and a Dane, so of course he’s a hilarious hater of Sweden.

Headshot | "David Pinter."
is a former CEO of Productions, and co-creator of the anime series. Smart, thoughtful, and a rare, business-minded creative. David also gave me my first headshot gig, a year and a half ago.

PORTRAIT | "Dave Floyd."
One central mission of my portrait photography is showing different sides of my subjects. We're all capable of being Angry Adam, or Frustrated Tina, or Scared Daniel, or Badass Jasmine, so it's important to me that when a session is done, we have evidence of those people in you. Here's Guy You've Got To Become Friends With Dave. I'm sure it's clear now why he was so much fun to work with.

PORTRAIT | "Dima Mabsout"
I'm still drawn to this picture of Dima. She's a fierce, thoughtful, introspective mind; a fearless traveler; gifted with the paintbrush and the pen; and an endlessly hungry reader. Dima was among the last people to couchsurf with me before I moved to Boston—which was where she was living!
