Thankful for those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom is never free; it is built on courage, commitment, and selflessness.
As Optimists, we carry their legacy forward by serving others, strengthening our communities, and bringing out the best in those around us.
This Memorial Day, honor their sacrifice through action.

Twenty NAHS students participated in this year’s Youth Appreciation Day activities on Monday. YAD, co-sponsored by the NA Optimist Club and the City of NA, gives high school seniors a behind-the-scenes look at the way our city operates. Students began the day meeting the Mayor, City Council members and Department Directors for a quick overview of our government structure and department functions. They then departed on the ENA trolley for tours of the water treatment plant, Public Safety headquarters and material recycling facility. The morning ended with lunch at SRP Park and a tour of the baseball stadium.

Students gathered at the City Council meeting on Mon evening where they sat with their counterpart, shared their favorite part if the day, and were recognized for their participation in the day’s activities.
