Highland Springs Middle School Highland Springs Middle School is ACPSD's newest state-of-the-art facility serving students in grades 6-8.

Highland Springs is just off of Belvedere Clearwater Road and is comprised of students from Areas 2 and 3. At HSMS, our students and families come first and it is our mission to meet all students where they are and work with them to reach their fullest potential.

Tuesday mornings are one of our favorite times of the week here in the Media Center!

Each week, Ms. Phillips hosts story time with Ms. Kamaluddin's class. It is a time to get together, read new stories and poems, and build a love for reading that will last a lifetime!

Attached includes an opportunity for students to participate in a STEM camp (called Lego Wars) hosted at Highland Springs Middle School during our Fall intersession week.

Participating students will work in teams to design and build a LEGO solution to a real-world environmental problem. They will follow the Engineering Design Process to brainstorm, design, prototype, improve, and present their ideas to local professionals within the CSRA. This is an excellent opportunity for students to apply what they are learning in their classes in a way that reinforces college and career ready skills!

Here is a fun look at what some of our ELA students were up to last week!

Students in Mrs. Dinkins' Advanced ELA class created scripts where dialogue revealed conflict, developed characters, and communicated a theme. They performed their engaging performances for the class.

From Riverhawks to Gamecocks...

Attention 8th graders and 6th grade AVID students! HSMS will be taking a field trip to the main campus of the University of South Carolina on Friday, October 16th, 2026! This will be a fun-filled day where we participate in activities, explore the campus, and learn more about this school!

This field trip is FREE and will take place during school hours. Transportation is provided.

Who is eligible?

-8th grade students (First come, first served to the first 35 8th graders who sign up!)
-6th grade AVID students

Please note, 8th grade students must not have any disciplinary incidents and have an 80% or higher in all of their classes to be considered eligible.

Intersession is bringing innovation to life!

Students will have the opportunity to explore, create, and problem-solve at our CTE Innovation STEM Camp. Read below to learn more about this exciting opportunity and stay tuned for more Intersession announcements to come!

All 6th through 8th grade students are invited to participate in ACPSD's CTE Innovation STEM Camp!

WHEN: September 28th -October 1st from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. daily

WHAT: All Aiken County Public School sixth through eighth grade students are invited to participate in ACPSD's CTE Innovation STEM Camp! Students will engage in fun, hands-on STEM challenges, build real world skills, solve problems and discover what they’re capable of creating! Students will select up to three courses to participate in throughout the day where they will learn about of drones, e-sports, robotics and cybersecurity.

WHERE: Schofield Middle School, 224 Kershaw Street, NE Aiken, SC 29801. There is no cost to participate in the camp.

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT APPLICATION: Monday, September 14th by 5:00PM. Spots are limited and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. 📣💙 A GREAT FIRST WEEK FOR RIVERHAWK CHEER! 💙📣

Our Highland Springs Middle School Cheerleaders had an exciting first week of the season!

🏈 They kicked things off by cheering on our Riverhawks to a WIN in their football scrimmage!

📣 They also had the opportunity to represent Highland Springs at Midland Valley High School’s Youth Night, joining in the Friday Night Lights celebration and showing off their Riverhawk spirit!

We are so proud of the energy, enthusiasm, and school pride these girls brought to both events. What a great way to start the season!

It might be Fall Break soon, but check out these ways your Riverhawk can stay active!

Midland Valley High School will be hosting a basketball skills camp for 3rd-8th graders on Saturday, September 26th. The cost for registration is $50 and spots are limited - so sign up today if you are interested! Please contact Coach Redd or Coach Williams with any questions!

Looking for something to do during the week? Kennedy Middle's Fall Sports Camp has you covered! This multi-sport camp will run from Monday, September 28th to Thursday October 1st. Students may attend from 8:30-11:30 and/or 12:00-3:00 each day. Students must be in good academic standing and register by Tuesday, September 22nd to attend. Only 30 spots available! Transportation and meals will not be provided.

Parents of 8th grade students - mark your calendars for our IGP Information Session on Thursday September 24th!

This event will be held in the HSMS cafeteria from 5:30-6:30!

This is a great opportunity to learn all about the Individual Graduation Plan sessions that you will attend with your 8th grade students and their counselors. High school is just around the corner, so please join us to learn about how we support your students in this transition!

We will be serving light refreshments.
