💙Another day of playing with pre-K. "The Book With No Pictures" is always a winner, then we checked out and played at centers.
🦄 We talked community helpers with 1st grade and designed our own 'unicorns in uniform'.
🐻Bring on the bears! With kinder we talked imaginary and information books and colored realistic bears based off real-life images and our bear live stream. Don't worry- when our realistic bear was finished, we got to color an imaginary bear to!

We did introductions and practice checkout before Labor Day, but having them in the library for the first time is always magical.

How lucky were we to spend the morning with McCall Hoyle . From hearing about her personal story, to getting a preview of her newest book Nando, our 4th, 5th and a few 3rd graders left feeling inspired to write and excited to read more of Hoyle's stories. It was an incredible reading kick-off to our year. Special kudos given to the teachers who ditched their usual back to school read-alouds to pick up something new.
McCall Hoyle, you're welcome at Roo anytime. We can't wait to welcome Oscar and more of your stories to our shelves.❤️

Another day of library orientation and playing super spy.
The Dog Days of Summer have hit Roo with our upcoming visit with the author McCall Hoyle. The 5th grade has officially cleaned me out of all "sad dog books" and have had to start offering silly dog ones instead. Some teachers have been reading Hoyle's books in class to get students prepared and it has been magical seeing the excitement spill out of the classroom into our library space.
