Scholarship is one of our core pillars—and at Eta Gamma, we stand on it every day. We hold ourselves to high academic standards and continuously motivate one another to grow, improve, and succeed.

We’re proud to highlight the results of our brothers’ hard work from last semester.
Congratulations to all who earned a place on the President’s and Dean’s Honor Roll.

Keep striving for excellence and setting the standard for what it means to lead with scholarship.

: Being Mexican and a first-generation college student, I sometimes felt like I was navigating everything on my own. I wanted to find a supportive group where I could connect with others who share similar experiences and cultural backgrounds. SLB offers that sense of belonging, community, and friendship that helps me feel more confident and supported both academically and personally.

?:
I chose SLB because I wanted to grow as a person. Being first gen, I learned independence early. I carried things on my own for a long time. Over time, that made me defensive and have this toxic sense of what it means to be a man. I felt like I had to handle everything by myself. Seeing men who looked like me building something amazing meant more to me than I can explain. It gave me that childlike spark again and it also showed me that strength doesn’t have to mean standing alone. As the youngest in our chapter, I knew I had so much to learn. I wanted to be pushed. I wanted mentorship. I wanted brothers who would hold me accountable.
SLB helped me open up, it taught me that vulnerability is not weakness rather that leaning on your brothers makes you stronger.

: Coming into OU, I never saw myself joining a Greek organization until | learned about Sigma Lambda Beta. As a first-generation student, especially at a university like OU, I wasn’t sure where I would find my place.
From the first rush event, I genuinely felt welcomed by the brothers. and that feeling stuck with me. I didn’t expect my perspective on Greek life to change, but SLB did that for me. Their four pillars align with my values and have pushed me to grow, work harder, and hold myself to a high standard. Beyond that, it has given me a support system and opened doors to opportunities I never imagined. I’m truly grateful to call this brotherhood my home.

: As a Mexican American, I have found it difficult to find spaces that I felt I belonged in.
During my first year here at OU, I found myself to familiar with those that were already apart of the fraternity. After some thought and consideration, I chose to rush Sigma Lambda Beta because I was looking to experience something new and to have a sense of belonging. I was able to find a community of like minded individuals, where I feel that I am apart of something bigger than myself. I’ve enjoyed my time in SLB, and I’m glad to say that I think I made the right decision in deciding to rush
