OU Opera is excited to announce our 2026-27 season! Join us in December for a Christmas-themed Die Fledermaus set in 1940s Hollywood with a brand new English script written especially for this production! And then in March, you don't want to miss the modern world staged premiere and US premiere of Il re pastore, written in 1756 by Maria Teresa Agnesi! The cast lists are up, and we are thrilled to bring you another exciting season!

Our opera scenes concert is tonight!!
Our final pair of opera scenes are by modern day composers, Luisa Matthynssens and Mason Bates, who explore different methods of incorporating the theme of ‘technology’ into their works. We are also incredibly excited to have Luisa with us in the audience tonight!🤩🤩🤩

Our second set of scenes were written in the 18th Century. Our students will be performing 2 scenes from opera settjngs of Metastasio’s Il re pastore. Mozart’s rendition is more widely known, but we will also be performing a scene from Maria Teresa Agnesi’s work, which has never been performed in the U.S.! 😮🎶 Scroll to learn a bit more about Agnesi👉

OU Opera Presents: TWO SIDES OF THE GLASS CEILING, Opera Scenes by Woman and Men through the Ages
Join us on April 28th as our talented OU music students showcase a series of opera scenes written by men and women from the 1600s all the way to the present-day. We are incredibly excited for the opportunity to perform some underrepresented works by women composers, like Caccini, Agnesi, Viardot, Smyth, and Matthynssens, in parallel to some more well-known composers like Handel, Mozart, Massenet, Leoncavallo, and Bates. 🎶🤩
