Twenty Alabama A&M University students represented the university at the 40th Annual Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) Training Conference and Career Expo last month in Dallas, where they presented research, competed in academic events and connected with industry leaders from across the country.

Alabama A&M University alumni, supporters and community members are invited to celebrate the launch of the 1947 Project during a Sundresses and Sneakers kickoff event from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at the AAMU Event Center. Inspired by the founding of Alabama A&M Women’s Basketball in 1947, the 1947 Project is a new initiative designed to support women student-athletes through mentorship, networking experiences and Name, Image and Likeness opportunities. Organizers are seeking 100 women to become founding members of the initiative by contributing $200 each to help establish a lasting legacy of support for women student-athletes on The Hill.

Alabama A&M University alumna Jamya Williams, a first-year science teacher at Bob Jones High School, has been awarded a grant through the UNCF Teacher Empowerment Fund, supported in part by the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation, a national initiative designed to support and mentor early-career educators from historically Black colleges and universities.

At the American Society of Civil Engineers Gulf Coast Student Symposium, Alabama A&M University civil engineering students put their skills to the test against top programs from across the South. Nineteen Bulldogs competed across multiple disciplines and claimed first place in the high-stakes Mystery Challenge, solving complex problems in real time with limited materials and only minutes to deliver.
