REA, alongside RCEA, VEA Staff, and other labor leaders in the valley hosted a press conference to encourage Governor Spanberger to sign the collective bargaining bill NOW. Several community members and leaders were present! We want to thank Melrose Plaza for Hosting! Special shout out to our VEA organizer specialist, Vanesha, for helping get this all put in place! The Virginia Public Sector Labor Coalition also supported these efforts!

We were also honored by the presence of several elected officials and candidates, including:

Terry McGuire, Vice Mayor, and Instructional Assistant in RCPS
Peter Volosin, City Council
Vivian Sanchez-Jones, City Council and Student Support Specialist in RCPS

Switching to Auto Pay for your VEA/REA union dues is one of the simplest ways to stay protected and connected—without the hassle. Instead of payroll deduction, this way our money and data stays with us!

No more remembering deadlines or worrying about missed payments. Auto Pay keeps your membership active so you can continue to access the support, advocacy, and benefits you rely on every day. And no longer share your membership information with the district!

It only takes a few minutes to set up, but it makes a lasting difference. Set it once, and you’re covered all year long.

Make the easy choice—switch to Auto Pay today. 💙

Pass the Collective Bargaining Bill 08/04/2026

‼️🚨🔔 https://actionnetwork.org/letters/pass-the-collective-bargaining-bill?source=direct_link&
Send a letter or call Governor Spanberger!!! Collective bargaining should not be limited to any certain groups, but all!!

One of the biggest injustices of the 2020 CB bill is that it didn’t apply to state workers, removing local workers from the 2026 CB bill would continue that injustice.

Imagine if localities could choose not to follow workplace discrimination or minimum wage laws. No state would stand for that; so why would it be okay for them to do so with collective bargaining?

Use the link- send emails and CALL!

Pass the Collective Bargaining Bill VEA has just learned that Governor Spanberger may consider amending the collective bargaining bill to exclude local government employees - that includes public school employees. In other words, we would be right back where we started with collective bargaining. School boards would be able to continu...
