Attend "Resources for Psychology" workshop to learn how to use PsycInfo for research
PsycInfo is the core database for locating literature for topics in Psychology, and a good resource for behavioral health, counseling, and topics that are related to attitudes, beliefs, perceptions, and a great resource for locating tests and measures.
In this workshop, we’ll explore the basics of searching PsycInfo, including creating strong search statements using keywords, index terms, and Boolean operators. We will also explore limiters available and locating the full-text of articles, and locating tests and measures. This workshop is perfect for those wanting an introduction to resources for psychology research, including psychology students at any level, as well as those doing any type of research related to behavior, attitudes, or in which researchers are looking for psychometric tools like tests and measures.
Facilitated by Joleen McInnis, Liaison Librarian to the College of Health Sciences and for the Life Sciences.
When: October 19th, 12-1 pm
Where: Online via Zoom

ARE YOU AN LGBTQ COLLEGE STUDENT 18-26 Y.O.? JOIN OUR STUDY!
My name is Lee Golembiewski, and I am a PhD candidate and researcher at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. I am conducting a research study which examines minority stress, social support, and mental health symptoms that LGBTQ+ college students may experience. I am looking for approximately 200 undergraduate students to take this survey. Participants must be: 18-26 years old, enrolled as an undergraduate student, and self-identify as a sexual minority (le***an, gay, bisexual, pansexual, etc.).
I would greatly appreciate it if you could distribute the survey link below to anyone who may be interested in taking this survey. I have also attached a flyer with the study QR code and additional information.
Here is the direct link to my survey: https://odu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eONtrfEE5jn9N9I
For any questions please contact: Lee Golembiewski at [email protected] or 757-604-3892, thank you for your time.
Despite an increase in pro-LGBTQ initiatives and inclusive policies on college campuses, sexual minority college students continue to face minority stressors (i.e., discrimination, prejudice, and internalized homophobia) which contribute to significant mental health problems. Social support been hypothesized to help protect against the harmful effects of minority stress experienced by LGBTQ individuals. However, less empirical attention has been given to the specific form of social support related to one’s stigmatized sexual identity. This research is critical to improve the lives and mental health outcomes of sexual minority college students, promote sexuality-specific social support, and inform college prevention and intervention efforts.
