Granby pride runs in the family! Kirk Belgrave, Class of 2006, was a standout football player for the Comets before continuing his career at Kent State and signed with the Atlanta Falcons. His father, Valentine Belgrave, made his own lasting impact as a prominent Granby football coach and Granby Hall of Fame inductee. Together, they represent a powerful father-and-son legacy of excellence, leadership, and commitment to Granby High School.

📚 GRANBY LEADERSHIP 📚 MICHAEL J CAPRIO

Granby High School proudly recognizes former principal Michael J. Caprio, who led the school from 1994 to 2002. During his tenure, he guided Granby through a major $21 million renovation while managing two campuses, “Granby 1” and “Granby 2.” One of his most lasting accomplishments was helping Granby become an International Baccalaureate World School in 1997, strengthening the school’s commitment to academic excellence and preparing generations of Comets for success in a global community. Mr. Caprio is remembered for his steady leadership, dedication to students and staff, and lasting commitment to Granby High School.

🏀 GRANBY SPOTLIGHT 🏀 ANDY BOLDEN

Granby High School proudly recognizes Andy Bolden, Class of 1980, a dynamic guard known for his quickness, basketball IQ, scoring ability, and smooth left-handed game. Andy continued his career at George Mason University, where he made an immediate impact by averaging 16.9 points per game as a freshman. His talent, leadership, and determination continue to represent the excellence of Granby High School.

🎥 GRANBY SPOTLIGHT 🎥 REGINA MOBLEY

Celebrating Granby High School alumna Regina Mobley, c/o 1979, whose distinguished journalism career has taken her from WTKR to WVEC and WAVY TV 10. An Emmy and AP Award-winning journalist and Virginia Communications Hall of Fame inductee, Regina has also made a lasting impact through her community service with the H.O.P.E. Foundation. She truly represents the very best of Granby pride.

🏈 GRANBY SPOTLIGHT 🏈 DEALTON COTTON

Congratulations to Granby football alum and Granby Hall of Fame Class of 2023 member Dealton Cotton on being named Head Varsity Football Coach at Fork Union Military Academy! A Norfolk native, Coach Cotton was a four-year letterman at East Carolina University and competed on the Pirates’ 1992 Peach Bowl and 1994 Liberty Bowl teams. His more than 20-year career includes leadership roles at Maury, Norview, Old Dominion University, and Fork Union, where he has served as School Counselor and Defensive Coordinator since 2023. Coach Cotton continues to represent the Granby Comet legacy with excellence.

Celebrating Edward “Ted” Daughtrey, former principal of Granby High School, whose leadership from 2002–2016 helped strengthen the school’s graduation rate, academic reputation, and commitment to excellence. His impact remains an important part of Granby’s legacy.

🏀 COACH FRED HARRISON 🏀 Granby Basketball

Fred Harrison and his remarkable 42-year coaching career, including more than 500 wins and service on Granby’s 2000 VHSL AAA Boys Basketball State Championship staff. His dedication continues to inspire generations of Comets.
