NHS Alumni! New and Older, Alumni weekend is to celebrate your Classes, and their countless accomplishments over the years. We heard this Saturday morning is the Alumni Breakfast and Hall of Fame induction ceremony with building walk-throughs 🥳.

Normally it's just the "old stomping grounds", but this year is a bit unique for the Auditorium. After 70+ years (known of, potentially 100+), we'll be doing some work to our stage itself, and backstage area this summer, in an effort to preserve the past and build for the future. Please excuse the mess as we've been preparing it for the contractors.

If you were in band, chorus, theatre, or maybe just enjoy the performing arts...and you'd like to swing through during the walk-through Saturday morning and see the stage before it looks different after the work, the main doors will be open and it'd be our honor to have you. Please keep in mind the following...

🥤🥞 - NO FOOD OR DRINK IN THE AUDITORIUM.

🚧 Please be aware that we're preparing for some construction work and some areas may be off-limits.

🚧 As you enter, several trash bins will be placed so you can discard any and all food and/or beverages - finished or not. We're promoting a clean environment as we work on upgrades.

🚧 Upon entering the Auditorium, please follow the one-way arrows on the floor. We have some visuals from the past and it tells a small story towards the future...

🚧 Please follow and adhere to all signage, especially for the stage. PLEASE STAY OFF THE STAGE.

🚧 We do understand you may want to take some photos or videos from your visit "home", please do not enter any seating, aisles, or sections clearly marked off. It will be the last time the stage looks exactly how it does, before a nicer and newer look!

🚧 If you're an Alum who called this place home, we'd love to have you comment so we can show our current students and future Alumni!

There it is, the Performing Arts Center at Newton High School after a year full of concerts, recitals, assemblies, meetings, productions...the list goes on. We may be preparing for some work ahead, but like the saying goes - "that's for Monday".

As we wrapped up events for the year, we also want to extend a special thank you to our NHS Custodial staff. After each and every night of an event, the sound of leaf blowers and vacuums filled the aisles as they did their very best to create and maintain a clean, great Auditorium alongside our staff. Next time you see a custodian, thank them.

Now, time to relax before we get ready for a few projects. We'll see you next year!

Every so often, our grand piano gets a little tune-up to make sure it's ready when we take it out from storage for our school concerts. A couple hours of professional regular maintenance can easily result in not only accompanying music sounding great alongside student-musicians, but also allows better diagnosis if something needs extra attention. Special thanks to Jay for coming in and making sure the Baldwin grand is up to the job!
