πβ¨ Ramadan in the Corporate World β¨π
Attention Muslim professionals in corporate America! Did you know that you can observe Ramadan while maximizing your productivity at work? Here are some tips to help you fast and make the most out of your workday:
1οΈβ£ Start your day right with a nourishing Sahur! Fuel your body with a balanced meal that includes complex carbohydrates, protein, and fruits/vegetables. This will provide you with sustained energy throughout the day.
2οΈβ£ Plan your work tasks strategically. Prioritize important and challenging tasks during the time when you feel most alert and focused. Use the early morning hours, when you're freshly energized from Sahur, to tackle complex projects.
3οΈβ£ Take short breaks throughout the day. Use your lunch break to rest, rejuvenate, and recharge. Find a quiet space to relax, meditate, or take a short power nap. This will help you maintain focus and productivity during the afternoon.
4οΈβ£ Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water during non-fasting hours to stay hydrated and avoid dehydration. Hydration is key to maintaining your energy levels and overall well-being.
5οΈβ£ Communicate with your colleagues and supervisor. Inform them about your fasting schedule and any adjustments you may need during Ramadan. Open and transparent communication can foster understanding and support from your team.
Remember, Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink; it's also a time for self-reflection, spirituality, and personal growth. By balancing your work commitments and religious obligations, you can make the most of this blessed month while excelling in your professional journey.
Communicating with colleagues and supervisors about fasting schedules during Ramadan is important for several reasons:
1οΈβ£ Awareness and Understanding: By communicating your fasting schedule, you raise awareness among your colleagues and supervisors about the significance of Ramadan and its impact on your daily routine. This helps them understand why you may have specific needs or adjustments during this time.
2οΈβ£ Support and Accommodation: When your colleagues and supervisors are aware of your fasting schedule, they can provide necessary support and accommodation to ensure a conducive work environment. This may include scheduling meetings or important tasks during non-fasting hours or allowing flexibility in breaks to accommodate prayer times.
3οΈβ£ Collaboration and Teamwork: Clear communication fosters collaboration and teamwork. By sharing your fasting schedule, you allow your team to plan and allocate tasks effectively, ensuring a smooth workflow and avoiding any misunderstandings or conflicts.
4οΈβ£ Inclusivity and Diversity: Communicating about Ramadan and fasting schedules promotes inclusivity and diversity in the workplace. It encourages a culture where different religious beliefs and practices are respected and accommodated, fostering a sense of belonging for everyone.
5οΈβ£ Education and Awareness: Open communication about Ramadan and fasting schedules provides an opportunity for education and awareness. It allows for discussions and conversations that promote cultural understanding, tolerance, and appreciation among colleagues.
By communicating about fasting schedules during Ramadan, you create an environment of understanding, support, and inclusivity in the workplace, enabling you to observe your religious obligations while maintaining productivity and harmony. πβ¨
Wishing all our Muslim colleagues a productive and spiritually fulfilling Ramadan! πβ¨
Colleagues and supervisors can provide support and accommodation based on awareness of fasting schedules during Ramadan in the following ways:
1οΈβ£ Scheduling Considerations: Colleagues and supervisors can take into account the fasting schedule when scheduling meetings, important tasks, or deadlines. They can try to avoid scheduling them during times when fasting individuals may experience low energy or difficulty focusing, such as late afternoon or close to Iftar (breaking the fast) time.
2οΈβ£ Flexible Breaks: Providing flexibility in break times allows fasting individuals to take short breaks for prayer or to rest if needed. This accommodation can help them maintain their energy levels and overall well-being during the workday.
3οΈβ£ Quiet Spaces for Prayer: Setting aside designated quiet spaces or prayer rooms within the workplace allows fasting individuals to fulfill their religious obligations without interruption or distraction. This accommodation shows respect for their religious practices and creates an inclusive environment.
4οΈβ£ Adjusted Workload: Colleagues and supervisors can consider adjusting the workload or redistributing tasks to ensure that fasting individuals are not overwhelmed with excessive work during Ramadan. This accommodation acknowledges the potential impact of fasting on energy levels and allows for a more manageable workload.
5οΈβ£ Understanding and Support: Colleagues and supervisors can provide understanding and support by showing empathy and being receptive to any requests or concerns related to fasting during Ramadan. This includes actively listening, offering assistance when needed, and being considerate of the unique challenges fasting individuals may face.
6οΈβ£ Cultural Sensitivity Training: Employers can conduct cultural sensitivity training to educate colleagues and supervisors about different religious practices, including Ramadan. This training can promote awareness, understanding, and respect for diverse religious beliefs and facilitate a more inclusive work environment.
By implementing these supportive measures, colleagues and supervisors can create an environment that respects and accommodates the fasting schedules of individuals during Ramadan, fostering a sense of inclusivity, understanding, and productivity. πβ¨
Having designated quiet spaces for prayer in the workplace during Ramadan is important for several reasons:
1οΈβ£ Religious Observance: Prayer is an essential part of the religious observance during Ramadan for Muslims. Providing designated quiet spaces for prayer allows fasting individuals to fulfill their religious obligations without interruption or distraction. It shows respect for their religious practices and allows them to maintain their spiritual connection during the workday.
2οΈβ£ Focus and Concentration: Prayer requires a peaceful and quiet environment for individuals to focus and concentrate. Having designated prayer spaces ensures that fasting individuals can find a suitable area where they can fully engage in their prayers without disturbances. This helps them to recharge, find inner peace, and rejuvenate their energy during the workday.
3οΈβ£ Cultural Inclusivity: Designated prayer spaces in the workplace promote cultural inclusivity and respect for diverse religious beliefs. It demonstrates that the organization values and accommodates the religious practices of its employees, regardless of their faith. This inclusivity fosters a sense of belonging and contributes to a more harmonious and inclusive work environment.
4οΈβ£ Stress Reduction: Ramadan is a month of fasting and self-reflection, which can sometimes be physically and mentally challenging. Having dedicated quiet spaces for prayer provides fasting individuals with a space to relax, find solace, and manage their stress levels. This can contribute to their overall well-being and help them maintain a healthy work-life balance.
5οΈβ£ Productivity and Focus: Providing designated prayer spaces allows fasting individuals to take short breaks for prayer, which can actually enhance their productivity and focus. Taking a few minutes to engage in prayer can help individuals clear their minds, reduce stress, and return to work with renewed focus and energy.
By having designated quiet spaces for prayer in the workplace during Ramadan, employers show respect for religious practices, promote inclusivity, and contribute to the overall well-being and productivity of their employees. πβ¨
Once upon a time at a professional corporate workshop, there was a magical moment when three siblings were born: Experience, Education, and Skills. π
During a team-building workshop with ProCorpWorks LLC, Auntie Saidah, CEO and master facilitator asked each participant to identify their strongest qualities and create a resume based on those attributes. Little did they know that this exercise would bring these three siblings to life.
Experience emerged first, with a wealth of knowledge and years of practical work experience. Education followed closely behind, armed with an impressive academic background and a thirst for learning. And Skills completed the trio, showcasing a diverse set of talents and abilities.
As they worked together to craft the perfect resume, they realized that they were stronger together than they ever could have been apart. Their unique strengths and abilities complemented each other perfectly, creating a resume that was truly impressive and unforgettable.
From that day on, the three siblings were inseparable, using their combined powers to conquer the professional world and land their dream jobs. And they knew that they owed it all to that fateful workshop where they were born. ππ©πΌπͺ
And so, the trio continued their journey of success, always grateful for the day they were brought to life at that professional corporate workshop. The end.

Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Donuts! π
So, a couple of years ago, I made the brave decision to start my healthy eating journey and live a better life. I mean, who needs the usual boring turkey bacon eggs toast and juice for breakfast, right? I was ready to shake things up! I decided to dive into the world of juicing and devour more salads. I even planned to boost my electrolytes with bananas and nuts. No more syrup on my pancakes, and goodbye to bread! It was time to cook beans and indulge in some delicious salmon.
I was determined to be the epitome of health, so I waved goodbye to my old habits and said hello to protein shakes and heart-smart, gluten-free, taste-free, whole grain grass. Yep, you heard that right! I even switched to 2% omega-3 milk. I was ready to be strong, fit, and a vessel of health!
But then, reality hit me like a truck. Just as I was slowly coming out of my dream state, my father walked in with a box of Krispy Kreme donuts. And boy, did all my resolutions go flying out of the window! I couldn't resist the temptation, and I devoured one donut after another. It was like my heart strings were being pulled, and I couldn't say no.
But here's the thing: wanting to be successful means taking care of yourself from the inside out. If your insides aren't healthy, how can you expect to build a better outside for yourself and your family? As much as I wasn't going to eat kale every day, I knew I had to put the donuts down and make healthier choices.
Fast forward three years, and guess what? I'm on my way to building generational wealth, insha Allah (God willing). So, remember, pick and choose your battles wisely. Life is all about balance, and sometimes, that means enjoying a donut or two along the way.

In 1984, on a Monday, my dad dropped a bombshell π£π₯! He said, "Clean your room before Saturday and you can attend your best friendβs party! π₯³π!" So, I thought to myself, "Challenge accepted!" πͺ
But, being the ultimate procrastinator β°, I only managed to half-clean my room at 3pm on Saturday. π Ah, the summer of '85! Let me take you back to one of my hilarious adventures during basic training. Picture this: I'm about to enjoy a well-deserved lunch at the chow hall, and my drill sergeant decides to throw in a little challenge. π
With 40 women from our platoon watching, my drill sergeant demands that I do 5 pull-ups before entering the hall. Now, let me tell you, I had the upper body strength of a wet noodle at that time! πͺπ
So, there I am, struggling and flailing like a fish out of water for a whopping 10 minutes! Tears are streaming down my face, and I'm crying like a baby. All my trainee sisters staring at me like Iβm a movie! But my drill sergeant, being the comedian that she was, decides to make an announcement to the other 39 women. She informed them that they only had 10 minutes left of their 30-minute lunch break. π±
And what do you know? Suddenly, those 39 women are fighting each other to help me out. They start lifting my feet up and down while counting to 5! Talk about delayed teamplaying? π€£π
That day, I learned a valuable lesson: Teamwork is essential, but it's nothing without proper motivation and a bit of friendly competition! ποΈββοΈπ―ββοΈ
