We had so much fun at our first SoCal TSR Run Club that we’re doing it again ☀️
On May 31st, Coaches Lindsey and Jessica are hosting another casual community run, this time in Newport Beach, CA.
This is not just for TSR athletes.
Whether you’re training for a race, getting back into running, run/walking, new to the sport, or just looking for good people to move with, you are welcome here.
We’ll plan on running 3-6 miles at conversational effort with all paces welcome.
One of our favorite parts of the last run club was meeting new people and instantly connecting. That’s exactly the kind of community we want to keep building through these meetups.
Here are the details:
📍Castaways Park, 700 Dover Drive, Newport Beach
🗓️ May 31st
⏰ 7 AM
And if you can stick around afterwards, we’ll grab some coffee together!
Let us know if you’ll be there or DM us for more details!

A lot of women who are stuck in a plateau think they need to either push harder or become more disciplined to finally break through.
But more often, the issue is that their training no longer matches the season of life they are actually in or has stopped adapting with them.
Annie was balancing training alongside a busy job, 3 young kids, and all the unpredictability that comes with that stage of life, while also trying to chase a goal she had been stuck just short of for a while.
One of the biggest shifts during this cycle was not just the workouts themselves, but having more communication, feedback, and support throughout the process. Instead of second guessing every run, she was able to focus on building consistency and trust in the work she was doing.
Even after getting pneumonia early on in her build, she stayed patient, adjusted when needed, and continued showing up.
At Napa Valley Half Marathon, Annie ran her fastest half marathon since before having her third child and finally broke through the 1:55 barrier, finishing in 1:53 🔥🎉.
If you’re looking for coaching that feels supportive, collaborative, and realistic for the season you’re in, comment MATCH and we’ll send you our coach match quiz 💛

Motherhood changes the way running fits into life.
For a lot of women, it becomes less about chasing perfect training and more about finding small moments that still feel like their own in the middle of taking care of everyone else.
Over the years, we’ve coached so many mothers through seasons of exhaustion, identity shifts, changing priorities, busy schedules, interrupted sleep, and the constant balancing act that comes with trying to care for both themselves and the people they love.
And one thing we’ve seen over and over again is that even small acts of showing up for yourself matter.
To all of the moms in our community, we’re really proud of you and everything you carry that most people never fully see.
And to anyone who finds today complicated in any way, we’re thinking of you too 💛

This is the stretch where the spring racing season starts to come to a close before summer arrives.
For a lot of our athletes, that means stepping into races they’ve been building toward for months, while others are showing up after navigating injury, illness, or just the reality of a full life.
There are athletes chasing PRs, athletes coming back after time off or surgery, and athletes who are choosing to race without pressure and just enjoy being out there again.
There are also athletes who have had to adjust their training along the way, figuring things out as they go, and continuing to show up even when it hasn’t felt perfect.
That’s what this month really reflects.
Not every race is about proving something. Sometimes it’s about seeing where you’re at, sometimes it’s about rebuilding, and sometimes it’s about closing out a season feeling strong, steady, and proud of the work that got you there.
We’re really proud of how our athletes are showing up this month, not just on race day, but in everything it took to get here.

Most runners don’t struggle because they aren’t working hard enough.
They struggle because they don’t have a clear plan.
At some point, it usually starts the same way. You sign up for a race that looks fun. Then another one a few weeks later. Maybe something bigger later in the year. Before you know it, your calendar is full, but you aren’t really sure what the purpose of each race is or how your training should actually build.
That is when things start to feel scattered. You’re running a lot, but not really progressing. You’re tired, but not confident. And it becomes hard to tell if what you’re doing is actually working.
The shift is not doing more. It is getting intentional!
When you start by choosing one or two goal races to anchor your year and build your training around them, everything else starts to make more sense. Your workouts have purpose. Your easier days strengthen the harder ones. And your supporting races become part of the process instead of something that throws you off.
This is what we help our athletes do every day. Not just train harder, but train with structure that actually fits their life and goals.
If you are looking at your race calendar and not sure how it all fits together, comment MATCH and we will help you map it out.

For a lot of runners, walking isn’t something to be “tolerated.” It is part of the process. It is how they pace their runs, build endurance, come back from injury, navigate postpartum, manage stress, or simply keep showing up every day.
It is how many people become runners in the first place. By walking or using the run/walk method. It is a strategy. And a good one.
At Team Sugar Runs, we believe running should feel accessible, supportive, and inclusive of every season and every pace.
That means:
✔ run/walk intervals are valid
✔ beginners are welcome
✔ taking breaks is part of training
✔ showing up matters more than how fast you go
If you are out there moving your body with intention, you belong here.
Walkers are not just tolerated.
They are celebrated.
And they always will be.

We’ve been wanting to do this for a while!
Team Sugar Runs has grown into a community of women training all over the country, but there is something different about getting to show up in person, run together, and actually connect beyond the training plan.
So we’re starting something new 🤩
Every 6–8 weeks, Coaches Lindsey and Jessica will be hosting a run club here in Southern California, rotating between Long Beach and Orange County, and it’s not just for our athletes. It’s for anyone who wants to be part of a supportive and welcoming running community.
This isn’t about pace or performance. It’s about showing up, moving your body, and getting to run alongside other women who are in it too.
Our first run is next weekend:
📍 Veterans Memorial Pier, Long Beach
🗓 April 19th
⏰ 8:00 AM
We’ll plan for 5–8 miles, but everything is flexible, and all paces are welcome!
If you’re local, we would love to have you there 🫶.

Sometimes the biggest shift in training isn’t doing more. It’s building something that actually fits your life.
Jelisa came into this season as a mom of three and a full-time speech therapist, already doing everything she could to stay consistent, but her training often felt like something she had to squeeze in rather than something that supported her.
So instead of adding more, the focus shifted to building consistency in a way that made sense for her schedule. Early on, that meant starting with time-based runs to take the pressure off, then gradually progressing back into mileage as her routine became more stable.
Her training was adjusted week to week to fit her life, not the other way around, and a big focus was placed on fueling so her body could actually support the work she was doing.
As that structure came together, so did her confidence.
By the time she got to the A1A half marathon, she wasn’t just hoping things would go well. She felt prepared and in control of her effort from start to finish.
She ran 2:58, dropping over 30 minutes from her previous PR.
This is what happens when training supports your life instead of competing with it.
If you feel like you’re doing everything you can but your training still isn’t clicking, it might not be about doing more.
Comment MATCH and we’ll send you our coach match quiz 💛

April is one of those months where everything starts to come together, because races that have been on the calendar for months are finally here and all of the work from the winter begins to show up in real time.
From Boston, London, and Paris to local races, relays, and training efforts, this month reflects a wide range of goals, experiences, and seasons of running that our athletes are moving through.
Some athletes are stepping onto the start line for their first marathon, while others are returning from injury, navigating big life changes, or chasing goals that have taken months of consistent work to build toward. There are also athletes choosing to adjust, scale back, or simply show up and enjoy the experience, which is just as important in the long run.
Not every race is about pushing, and not every season is about proving something, but every start line represents the work, the decisions, and the consistency that got them there.
We are really proud of how our athletes are showing up this month, not just on race day, but in everything it took to get there.
