One thing our parish is doing this year in honor of the 800th year since St. Francis’s death is a traveling statue.
Each family in our church gets to sign up for a week to keep the blessed statue in their home. During that week they’re encouraged to pray daily with the many different prayers included with the statue, including a St. Francis Novena, a Franciscan Chaplet, the Litany of St. Francis and more!
This beautiful statue and the accompanying prayers are all meant to draw us closer to our Lord in love and obedience, just like the example of the life of St. Francis.
“Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
“Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that have received--only what you have given.”
“I have been all things unholy. If God can work through me, He can work through anyone.”
“Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where these is hatred, let me sow love...” (The Peace Prayer)
"The deeds you do may be the only sermon some persons will hear today."
"Do few things but do them well, simple joys are holy."
- St. Francis of Assisi
