Save the Liberty Street School A page dedicated to the Liberty Street School, from its rich past, through a long era of neglect and on to its shining future. Estabrook and built in 1891.

The Liberty Street School is a key building in the revitalization of Newburgh and more specifically the Liberty Street area. The school was designed by architect Frank E. The building contained 8 classrooms with enough room for 40 desks each. The estimated cost to build the structure was $30,000. The last class of students left this building in 1980. That is 37 years of non habitation.

Thank You Brian Denniston for bringing us all together. Thanks to our crew. I would also like to thank NY State and the City of Newburgh. We are relying on your support to make the P. S. 6 Center For Film & Television a reality while preserving a unique landmark building for generations to come. We cannot do this without you and your valuable support!
