If you know if anyone interested in learning more about Mount Sophia Academy we will be hosting an informational meeting on Thursday, March 12 starting at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be held at the school: 91 Salem Church Road, Newark, De 19713. Please drive around the church to the back parking lot and enter at the door indicated. We will have students and teachers available for them to speak to as well as information about our academic and extracurricular programs.

Attention potential college bound high school students & parents: College Information/Preparation Seminar will be presented on Thursday, March 23 at 6:30 PM at Mt. Sophia.



This seminar is for all high schoolers. Some of the important subjects that will be covered include: how to search for and choose a college , what are the true costs of college and how to navigate the financial aid maze, how the college application process works and what makes a student highly desirable to colleges (it is not just grades and test scores) and much more (you will receive a multi-page booklet with many website links and more).



Both parents and students are encouraged to attend.



All high schoolers (and a parent) are invited to attend. There is no charge for Mt. Sophia diploma-program students. For non-diploma students, the cost is $20/family to attend. This fee will be credited to your account if you choose to join the diploma program for next school year (2026-2027).

Choir does NOT begin on January 6. Choir will begin on January 13 - the calendar was incorrect.

The Mount Sophia Academy Choirs and Hand Chime Ensemble will be starting up on Monday, September 9. The Mt. Sophia Academy Chorale is a non-auditioned ensemble open to all students in grades 9 through 12. The Mt. Sophia Academy Concert Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble open to all students in grades 5 through 8. The Mt Sophia Elementary Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble open to all students in grades 1 through 4. (Please note: there is a slight change in the grade division this year). All the choirs meet on Monday evenings at Evangelical Presbyterian Church 308 Possum Park Road, Newark, starting at 6:30 (Elementary Choir ends at 7:45 and the other choirs end at 8:30). The Mt. Sophia Academy Hand Chime Ensemble is a non-auditioned ensemble open to all students in grades 5 through 12 (note change in grade levels) which will be meeting on Monday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30. More information can be found on our website (mtsophia.com) under the “Extracurriculars” tab.

The first meeting of the Mt Sophia Academy Rhetoric team is Wednesday, September 18, from 2-3:30 in Room 1 at Mt Sophia. The team is for 9th to 12th graders and confident 8th graders and is open to ALL homeschoolers - you do not have to be an MSA diploma program student to join. The monthly meetings of the Rhetoric Team (a fancy name for the Speech Team) serve two purposes. The first is to allow the students to learn how to speak in front of people in a very low-key environment. Its second purpose is to offer the opportunity to participate in several different competitions (competitions look great on your high school transcript- especially public speaking ones). If your student is interested in joining the team, go to the mtsophia.com website, click the "Forms" tab, and click the “Rhetoric Team Registration Form.” Dates of the meetings and competitions are listed on the form.

A wonderful evening of dining and dancing for all who attended the MSA Prom.

MSA Chorale, Concert Choir, Hand Chime Ensemble, and Elementary Choir had their Spring Concert yesterday. What a beautiful evening of music!
