Queen of Angels: When a Church Dies

ation and anything specific to the life or demolition of the Queen of Angels church and school. Concerning the latter, I have before + after photos, historical research/documentation and salvaged artifacts that artists can use/incorporate into their artwork. The dates and location of this exhibition are still being negotiated but it will be somewhere in downtown Newark with an opening reception during Newark’s Open Doors arts festival (Oct. 20-23). This will also be a featured exhibition coinciding with the 350th anniversary celebration of Newark’s founding. Here is the process if you’re interested in participating:
1) If you’d like to see what artifacts are available, email me at: [email protected] with the RE: church artifacts. I still have to sort through and find a place to lay them out so this will probably be available by the end of July. I’ll be posting historical documentation and my personal photos to a page (see below) which can then be used by artists in their own artwork.
2) Submit your artwork via email to: [email protected] with the RE: church artwork. These should be in .jpg format (around 1000x1000 pixel res) along with your name, title, and actual size. There is no entry fee or limit to number of submissions but also no guarantee that everyone’s work will make it into the exhibition. Deadline for submitting artwork is August 26 with acceptance notifications to go out August 29.
3) If accepted, artwork will be dropped off by the artists on the weekends of October 7 and 14. All responsibilities for the drop off, pick up and insurance (if desired) of artwork will be with the artists.
