A week-long carbon cleanse, inspired by the work of sustainability pioneer Colin "No Impact Man" Beavan. This one-week experiment that allows participants to experience the difference lowering their impact can have on their quality of life, their community, and their planet. Starting this Sunday, April 6th, 2014 through Sunday, April 13th, 2014, we invite you to join us in participating in a week-long carbon cleanse called the Week of No Impact. Each day will include a main themed program hosted by a different residence hall. Smaller programs will occur at different times and locations that are designed to support the main event of the day. Each morning, be sure to tune into our page to watch a video introducing the day's topic of consumption, and the daily challenge. Upon participating in our Facebook challenges and attending our programs, you will receive a raffle ticket, which could enter you into our raffle multiple times. The grand prize is a bicycle from the non-profit organization, Recycle-A-Bicycle! http://www.recycleabicycle.org/
Other prizes include gift cards to Trader Joe's and local greenmarkets! The week will conclude on Sunday, April 13th with an Eco-Sabbath calling all participants to observe an entire day dedicated to cutting down on all carbon consumption. Beginning at 12:00 noon, we will walk from Kerrey Hall to the Brooklyn Bridge Park, where there will be a celebration picnic. At the picnic, all winners will be drawn and announced.
