I miss all the processed food I used to be able to eat- especially all the new flavors of snacks I loved.
With allergies and mast cell issues, it can happen to anyone at any time. Our bodies change and then we are left to our own devices, or find a practitioner that can help. There’s currently treatment for IgE allergies, but a lot of people suffer from non IgE allergies too.
If you feel overwhelmed and lost in your eating journey, just know there’s so many like us out there who struggle with eating 🤝💗

Welcome to MAP! We are here to provide allergy and chronic illness relating to allergy education and support :)
Diethanolamine (DEA) is in so many cleaning products already, like dishwashing products, laundry, hand soups, all purpose cleaners. And if you have mast cell issues, this may add to your daily bucket. As for gut health, it can be extremely difficult to spot the connection from chemicals, to gut, to brain.
Which cleaning products do you use? Drop them down below for the community

This was in the news a lot recently, and I see people being more focused on the tick spreading and not the underlying problem, which is if you’re already chronically ill and rely on meat, this can potentially be deadly. There is currently no cure for Alpha Gal and it needs to be treated like any other allergy. Unfortunately, having a meat allergy was not as common in the past, which means it’s going to be much harder to identify right away. We already lost 2 people last year; a young boy and a middle aged man with children.
If you see a tick on you, make sure to pull the head out with tweezers ASAP, not just the body, collect and take yourself and tick to the nearest urgent care/hospital. I’ve also seen people wrap their ankles with tape to get them to stick to the tape.

OCD for people who aren’t chronically ill, do not have to worry about triggering their illness and then having to logically work it out. With OCD, logic doesn’t apply to thoughts, so if you are having a health flare up and this triggers your chronic illness, this can be super uncomfortable or possibly deadly depending on the issue. The other thing is Illness Anxiety Disorder, which specifically worries about health stuff only, and is separate from OCD, which can include checking, symmetry, contamination, and orderliness behaviors and compulsions. It can be tricky to tell the difference, but a trained eye can. You can also have all of these.

How much do you struggle with this part?
Make a list first and then start packing in advance. This video is about packing food but:
Some thing I always recommend packing no matter what your chronic illness: heart rate, etc. tracking ring (like Aura), bandaids and alcohol or neosporin, electrolyte mix, braces (hypermobility), favorite snacks that are safe, eye mask, portable solar charger, medical cards or medical alert bracelet, travel insurance

9/10- Packed Food. Lessens the burden of having to find places to eat with allergies, saves money, and you feel instantly safe. Doesn’t taste as good as when I make it fresh though.
100/10- The Ocean. The water in the Caribbean always makes my skin clear and regulates my nervous system.
8/10- The Sun. I love the sun so much, if I could have a house with big windows all over, I would. The sun makes me feel happy, giddy. However, too much heat causes my mast cells to become a little crazy and I am prone to dehydration so I definitely can’t spend too much time out there.
9/10- Food. The food I did eat for the most part, was really fresh and clean. Everything I did eat from there tasted great.
10/10- Island Tour. This was my favorite part of the whole trip.
3/10 Finding Fruit. I had an incredibly hard time finding the fruit I could eat, and a lot of the times it was mixed with fruits I haven’t tried adding into my diet, so the cross contact made me nervous. I wish there had been a fruit cart or something for easy access
10/10- Friends. I really love that for women, spending time with other women and allies helps regulate our nervous system, as opposed to men. I definitely did that on Aruba.
Would you go to Aruba?

The first thing I do when picking somewhere to travel to, is research the local cuisines, places to eat or shop for food around the area, if I can find a place to stay with a kitchen, and the nearest hospital.
But it doesn’t matter how much I plan, there’s always stuff I forget at home or to pack that could make things easier. I also recommend at least making a list.
What things would you have packed?

What’s the longest you’ve had to meal prep for a trip due to medical alignments, like allergies?
How do you guys prep for trips with allergies or MCAS?
Proprioception is very subtle but it can be a big symptom for a lot of different chronically ill people.
proprioception = your brain’s ability to sense where your body is without looking.
In Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), loose connective tissue means joints don’t give clear, stable feedback → proprioceptive signals get “noisy.”
Add cervical instability, and the upper neck (a HUGE proprioceptive hub) can send inconsistent information to the brain.
Now layer in neurodivergence:
Autism Spectrum Disorder + Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder often involve differences in sensory processing—including proprioception.
So instead of one issue, you get overlap:
• inaccurate body awareness
• clumsiness or poor coordination
• dizziness / spatial disorientation
• sensory seeking or avoiding
• trouble focusing (your brain is busy “finding” your body)
When your brain can’t reliably map your body → it increases effort, tension, and even anxiety to compensate.
Support looks like:
✔️ grounding + deep pressure input
✔️ slow, controlled strengthening
✔️ stabilizing (especially cervical + core)
✔️ reducing sensory overload while building awareness
✔️Adding mindfulness to life
