Leadership, Creativity, and the Future of CPSP — CPSP
Leadership transitions are rarely simple or straightforward. They are shaped not only by organizational structures but by history, memory, and the loyalties that form around founding authority figures. CPSP provides a vivid example of this dynamic. From its earliest days, the organization was never

CPSP Celebrates Spiritual Care Week
Whether you serve in trauma bays or quiet chapels, in correctional facilities or hospice homes, in session with clients or on call—your presence matters. You bear witness to what others cannot name. You hold space for what cannot be fixed. You enter the room not to solve, but to stay.

Faithfully Serving our Membership
The College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP) and The National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) Form Partnership to Expand CPE Opportunities
The College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP) begins a new partnership with the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), recognizing CPSP's Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) units toward NACC certification. This partnership expands opportunities for both CPSP and NACC members and individuals discerning chaplaincy.
“CPSP’s partnership with NACC reflects a shared commitment to professional excellence in chaplaincy, rooted in mutual respect, ethical integrity, and the formation of caregivers grounded in both spiritual and clinical integrity, says Rev. Dr. Rachel Greiner, CPSP President. “This collaboration strengthens our collective voice in the field and affirms the value of rigorous clinical pastoral education shaped by collegial integrity and spiritual depth.”

24 Years Later, CPSP Remembers
It has been 24 years since the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. We in CPSP pause for a moment to remember those who lost their lives and those whose lives have forever been changed by the attack and its aftermath.
We specifically recall New York Fire Department Chaplain Mychal Judge and the many chaplains in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC, along with surrounding areas who journeyed with victims and their families over these years. We remember faces and names of those we knew and those we never will.
Names etched on the head of a pin.
One name spanning a bridge, another undergoing a tunnel.
A blue name needled into the skin.
Names of citizens, workers, mothers, fathers,
The bright-eyed daughter, the quick son.
Alphabet of names in green rows in a field.
Names in the small tracks of birds.
Names lifted from a hat
Or balanced on the tip of the tongue.
Names wheeled into the dim warehouse of memory.
So many names, there barely room in the walls of the heart.

Dear CPSP Community,
We are overjoyed to share a landmark achievement in our journey: the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) and the Board of Chaplaincy Certification Inc. (BCCI) have officially approved CPSP as an Approved Provider of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) toward BCCI certification.
This recognition affirms the rigor, integrity, and depth of our CPE programs and places CPSP among the accredited providers whose curriculum and standards meet the expectations of the broader professional chaplaincy community. Visit https://cpsp.org/apc-bcci for more information.
Here are the key highlights:
• All CPSP CPE units earned after January 1, 2024 will be accepted directly through the BCCI online application process.
• Units earned prior to January 1, 2024 may still be submitted via the BCCI CPE Equivalency process.
• As with our own Clinical Certification, Completion of CPSP CPE Units does not automatically equate to APC/BCCI Board Certification. CPE is just one step in the process.
This milestone is the result of extraordinary labor, vision, and perseverance. We want to offer deep and heartfelt thanks to the team who led our application process with brilliance and grace:
Hillel Fox – for his steady hand and institutional wisdom
David Plummer – for his clarity, precision, and tireless advocacy
Craig Stevens – for his strategic communication and coordination
Jacob George – for his meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment
Their work has opened new doors for our trainees, supervisors, and community. They have helped secure CPSP’s place in the evolving landscape of professional chaplaincy, and we owe them our highest praise.
Let us celebrate this moment together—and let it remind us of what is possible when we remain faithful to our covenant, our standards, and our shared calling.
With gratitude and joy,
Rachel, Garrett, and Noel
