Lately, I’ve been watching the conversation unfold.
States are cutting funding for school counselors and social workers.
And people keep saying, “this isn’t the teacher’s job.”
As a teacher, I understand that.
The workload is real. The expectations are unsustainable.
But we cannot stop the conversation there.
Because another truth exists at the same time:
You cannot teach a child who is emotionally and mentally dysregulated.
A child’s nervous system walks into the classroom with them every single day.
When it’s overwhelmed, learning isn’t accessible, no matter how strong the lesson is.
So we keep trying to solve it academically…
more work, more intervention, more pressure.
And it doesn’t work.
After 15 years of teaching, what I see over and over again are families doing their best without ever being shown what regulation actually looks like in practice.
That’s the gap.
And that’s the work.
So naturally, I designed something to meet it.
Teaching Self-Regulation at Home is a 4-week, play-based course for families who want real, practical tools they can actually use day to day.
Not theory. Not overwhelm.
Just grounded support that makes life easier for you and your child.
If you’re feeling this in your home, you’re not alone.

After 15 years of teaching children and adults of all ages, I’ve learned a thing or two about self-regulation.
In fact, I’ve cared so much about advocacy around emotional regulation that I (quite literally) drove all night to Minneapolis for a self-regulation intensive in the summer of 2024.
Through my classroom teaching and private practice, what I’ve learned is this: most families (and teachers) are trying to support children without ever being shown what regulation actually looks like in practice.
So naturally, I’ve designed a course to teach you...
Teaching Self-Regulation at Home is a 4-week, play-based experience for families who want real tools, not just theory.
This isn’t about “fixing” behavior. It’s about understanding your child’s nervous system, building routines that actually work, and reducing the daily friction that so many families are carrying.
Weeks 1–2, we learn together in person. Parents get assignments to practice at home and then...
Weeks 3–4, we shift to Zoom for introspection, reflection, and deep conversation.
If you’ve been looking for support that feels practical, grounded, and doable… this course is for you.

If you’re raising a neurodivergent child right now, you already know…
Most advice sounds good, but falls apart in real life. This seminar is different.
We’re going to talk about what regulation actually looks like in your home, how school stress shows up after the school day ends, and how to build routines that support your child without overwhelming them or you.

The more I understand my own brain, the more I understand the students I work with. For a long time, I thought I was just a teacher who worked differently.
Now I know I’m a neurodivergent systems thinker, and that perspective shapes everything I do.
It’s not just personal. It’s professional.
It’s the lens I bring into every lesson, every conversation, and every family I support.
That’s exactly what I’m bringing into my virtual seminar on Thursday, April 9.
Helping Your Neurodivergent Child Thrive
A live virtual parent workshop
This session is grounded in real, practical Social Emotional Learning strategies for children in grades 1–6. No fluff. Just tools you can actually use to support emotional regulation, behavior, and confidence at home and at school.
If you’re raising or caring for a neurodivergent child and looking for support that makes sense in real life, this class is for you.

That’s a big part of what I bring to my work now, and to the seminar I’m teaching April 2.

One of the biggest misunderstandings about neurodivergent kids is thinking they need more discipline.
Most of the time they need better systems.
- Better transitions
- Better expectations
- Better sensory support
- Better communication
When the system changes, the child changes. This is what I’ll be teaching in my April 2 virtual seminar.

Something I notice in my work over and over again is that people don’t usually come to me because they need more information.
They come because something isn’t working, and they can feel it, but they don’t have the language to explain why.
- A child who melts down after school.
- A student who seems capable but shuts down.
- A family that feels like they’re constantly walking on eggshells.
- An adult realizing later in life that their brain works differently.
My work now sits right at that intersection of education, neurodivergence, systems, and belonging.
That’s exactly the space this upcoming seminar is coming from.
