There are times when we forget and complicate things. I'm not a big fan of cooking, isn't that weird? Considering I run this page!

Yesterday I thawed chicken legs instead of a whole chicken for roasting. Since my husband doesn't like bones, I cooked it in the oven only to later attempt to debone.

To make it more interesting, I added some coconut cream and herbs.
Served with cous cous, fried swede, boiled broccoli, zucchini with parmesan and garlic butter, peas and kale with garlic butter.

Yup carbs! I got left overs so dinner or lunch today will be the same :D

Fyrish monument hike yesterday šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Fuelled up with 2 eggs and some bacon before this hike.

The weather was mental and we had ice and rain on the way down but got to our motorhome safe and dry.

The app didn’t record the full 1:55 mins not sure why but maybe the gps dropped on the way up.

Haleakala virtual climb done and dusted!!

Sometimes the goal is simply: don’t quit.

This was a week long challenge but I only had 4 days available, but I thought… why not šŸ˜…

Haleakala is apparently one of the hardest climbs in the US. I ended up averaging about 6 hours but of course I didn't do it in one go nor had I to suffer the real struggle of oxygen at that elevation! šŸ˜„

I warmed up before every ride, spin ups in between to keep the legs lactic acid free as much as possible, and stretching after so nothing seized up. I did also double up on magnesium and electrolytes, and yesterday and today I added creatine to my bottles.

My nursing background kicked in and I basically focused a LOT on recovery.

Both my feet are suffering from plantar fasciitis and the tendonitis on my left side at the moment hasn't increased, so I’m taking that as a big win.

Time for a long magnesium salt bath and possibly half a pizza tonight šŸ• Not sure how depleted I am after today, but the legs say it’s justified!

A long reminder that resilience beats pace!

Today was day one from the challenge I registered for.

For some it may not sound much but it is 10,000 vertical feet climb ride.

My aim is to climb Mount Haleakalā virtually on my Peloton

I have 5 days to finish this and by the app calculations it should take me less than 8 hours. I started slowly with 30 min ride then added another 15 min this morning. It has been advised to take shorter rides, stretch and do quick spins in between climb rides.

Nutrition wise I had an egg before the ride then had breakfast with a slice of toast after. Taking a rest this afternoon and may do an hour later this afternoon.

This is my first in this type of challenges as previously it was only miles over time. It should be ok to finish, but with plantar fasciitis in both feet and tendinitis in my left it may be painful by the end of it all. I will be icing my feet this evening and also doubling up on magnesium and electrolytes throughout the week.

Good luck to me! I always say that anything is better than nothing!

On International Women’s Day, I’ve been reflecting a lot on the invisible things women carry through life.

I’ve known for a long time that I have ADHD, but treatment wasn't an option for me back then. So like many women, I learned to mask, push through, and keep everything going.

I did that while raising ADHD twins as a single parent… which, looking back, was basically life on constant edge, stress and then maybe even switch to expert mode.

Now I’m approaching menopause and the hormonal safety nets that helped me hold everything together for decades are shifting. Suddenly the mask doesn’t stay on so easily, and things that used to be manageable feel a lot heavier.

I have treatment now and it helps but it’s not a magic wand. ADHD doesn’t disappear, and hormones still have their say.

I still find myself in the strange positions of having to explain my behaviours that have always been there cause they’re just more visible now. It s*c!s but I do it.

So a big part of my journey lately has been learning how my brain and body actually work, instead of blaming myself for not coping well enough.

If you’ve ever raised neurodivergent kids while being neurodivergent yourself… you deserve a medal.

Or at the very least, a very long nap.

Happy International Women’s Day to all the women quietly carrying more than people realise. šŸ’œ

If you're wondering why this pic, it's because my impulsivity led me to enroll in an over 10,000 feet vertical bike ride challenge at the end of the month! Send HELP! 🤣

Before I flew to Malta last month I cycled almost 60 miles on my Peloton.

The app had a little meltdown so I’ve no clue how long it actually took but I reckon around 4 and a bit hours.

I was tempted to keep going but between the WiFi refusing to cooperate and the small detail of recovering from vestibular neuritis, I figured living to ride another day was the smarter move.
This medal arrived yesterday and it is heavy! I am always tapping myself on the back in these challenges and although it is slow progress I have results to show.

My bloods are PERFECT and walking, hiking and running after my granddaughter Sienna doesn't hurt or gets me breathless anymore.

Slow and steady… but make it unstoppable!

Call it ADHD, impulsivity, or just determination but I committed, so I keep my word.

My impulsivity signed me for another cycling challenge called Pelofondo šŸš“ā€ā™€ļø It’s a global event, so it’s fun and properly challenging… exactly how I like it.

My miles will count toward the team total.

I pledged 70 miles and yesterday did 41.99, my bum actively hates me šŸš“ā€ā™€ļø but back on today for recovery rides and hopefully get in the other 30 miles left. Wish me luck!

You know the song that goes ā€˜I came in like a wrecking ball’?

Well that’s how my health ailments decided to enter 2026

I had promised myself an indoor cycling marathon this Jan. My 3rd so far.
Not only I was unwell the first week and managed only one ride so far but two nights ago I had to attend emergency.

I was dizzy, disoriented, nauseas and felt like on clouds for two days.

Vestibular neuritis, which could have been triggered by the inflammation I had the week before.

Thank you almost 50 year old body.

So now I’m on treatment and have to wait more days until I can attempt a ride or some yoga. šŸ§˜ā€ā™‚ļø
