š„š¬ Igniting opportunity in the Bronx.
Einstein has opened the new IGNITE (Inspiring Growth in Next Generation Investigation, Training and Education) community teaching lab, a state-of-the-art space designed to give middle school, high school, and college students across the Bronx greater access to hands-on science education.
The first-of-its-kind lab in the Bronx will serve more than 650 students each year through Einsteinās 22 pathway programs, giving aspiring scientists, physicians, and healthcare professionals opportunities to work with laboratory equipment, learn about the research process, and explore biomedical science. The lab will also be available to students who are not participating in Einsteinās pathway programs.
āToday we are lighting a sparkāa spark of discovery, of learning, of opportunity, and hope that will ignite the talents, aspirations, and determination of young people throughout the Bronx and beyond,ā said Lester W. Young, Jr., Ed.D., chancellor of the New York State Board of Regents, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

A portrait of whatās next. š„¼š
Last week, 139 M.D. students and 12 M.D.-Ph.D. students marked an unforgettable milestone at Einsteinās On Becoming a Physician Ceremony: receiving their first white coats.
More than a rite of passage, the white coat represents the responsibility and trust that come with the privilege of caring for others. It also marks the beginning of their transformation into the physicians they aspire to become.
As they begin this journey, these future physicians join an Einstein community shaped by curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and above all compassion.
Congratulations to our newest class, and welcome to Einstein!

The white coat never goes out of style. š„¼š©ŗ
As we welcome the Entering Class of 2026, weāre looking back at one of Einsteinās most meaningful traditions: the On Becoming a Physician (White Coat) Ceremony.
Every class brings its own stories, aspirations, and experiences, but one moment remains the same: the first time students put on their white coats and officially join the Einstein community.
From joyful celebrations with family and friends to the excitement of meeting classmates and taking the first steps toward a career in medicine, these moments mark the beginning of a lifelong journey.
Swipe through some of our favorite White Coat Ceremony memories from recent years as we celebrate todayās On Becoming a Physician Ceremony.

What happens to memory as the adolescent brain matures? š§
New research from Jelena Radulovic, M.D., Ph.D., and Hui Zhang, Ph.D. at Albert Einstein College of Medicine found that memory circuits in the mouse brain undergo an unexpected period of remodeling during late adolescence. During this time, memories formed earlier in life become temporarily more difficult to retrieve before resurfacing later, often with less precise detail.

Congratulations to Marina Konopleva, M.D., Ph.D., on receiving the 2026 Ernest Beutler Lecture and Prize in clinical science from the American Society of Hematology (ASH), one of the fieldās highest honors.
Dr. Konopleva is being recognized for pioneering research that advanced targeted therapies for leukemia and helped lay the scientific foundation for the use of venetoclax, a targeted therapy now used to treat several blood cancers. Her work also uncovered why some people with blood cancers develop resistance to BCL2-targeted therapies, helping guide new treatment strategies and improve patient care.
She will deliver the Ernest Beutler Lecture at the 2026 ASH Annual Meeting this December in New Orleans.Ā

From Einstein M.D. to biotech leader.
On June 25, the Einstein Innovation Group welcomed alumnus Scott N. Braunstein, M.D. ā90, back to campus for a conversation about innovation, entrepreneurship, and the many career paths a medical education can unlock.
Designed to connect students with accomplished Einstein alumni, the event offered mentorship, candid career advice, and insights into the future of healthcare innovation. Drawing on his experience as a physician, investor, and biotechnology executive, Dr. Braunstein discussed leadership, translating scientific discoveries into patient care, and building a career at the intersection of medicine, science, business, and technology.
Thank you to Dr. Braunstein, the Einstein Innovation Group, and the office of alumni relations for this inspiring conversation.
