Bones at the Gate: An Antigone

Following a bloody civil war, newly anointed king, Creon, announces an edict prohibiting the burial of the rebel Polyneices. Antigone, Polyneices' sister and cousin to Creon, refuses to accept the edict and, in defiance, plans to bury the body. The play follows the c
onflict between Antigone and Creon, touching the lives of many in the war-torn city of Thebes. In this new adaptation of Antigone, as in Sophocles' original, the action onstage unfolds as a vivid exploration of questions about an individual’s role in relation to society, about allegiance and leadership, about the struggle for a sense of direction in the wake of war and destruction. The production features Gallatin undergraduate students:
