Still coming down from last weekend’s Catskills XPT workshop in Andes, NY !! 💦💪🏽🤙🏽🙌🏽
Incredible tribe of people.
It was an honor to share these practices with such an open minded and powerful crew.
We delved into the depths of XPT breath work, dominated a outdoor HIIT workout in an absolute downpour, and wrapped up with everyone’s very first ice and heat exposures.
Can’t wait for the next XPT event, Catskills! DM us if you’d like to book an event on your property or gym!

STUDY: Heat exposure for controlling Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity
This review of the literature on heat therapy done in 2015 shows some interesting and exciting potential benefits for the use of heat therapy, especially in disease populations or those with type 2 diabetes or obesity. More research is certainly needed as many of the mechanisms of heat shock protein activation were seen in animal studies (mice), the bulk of the literature on humans has shown that heat therapy reduces:
•Fasting glycemia
•Glycated hemoglobin
•Body weight
•Adiposity
The researchers found that hot tubs were equally as effective as saunas in raising core body temperature. Recommended exposures were:
•Duration: 15mins
•Frequency: 3x/week
•Temperature: 80-100 degrees C for sauna, 40 degrees C for hot tub
•Trial period: 3 months
These findings certainly raise the interest for further study, but are already being adopted by XPT founders, ambassadors, and enthusiasts who regularly use heat therapy (dry sauna) for the reported health & longevity benefits. At XPT we use sauna’s between 2-5x/week, sometimes as a stand alone method or in combination with exercise or cold water immersion (ice baths).
