Come celebrate Black History Month with the Caucus of Emory Black Alumni and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture!
Although Malcolm X was assassinated on February 21, 1965, his vision, philosophy and—above all—his words live on. A who’s who of notable participants, including Emory Distinguished Writer-in-Residence Salman Rushdie, Ishmael Beah, Kathleen Cleaver, Darryl Pinckney, Salim Washington, Esther Armah, and Khalil Gibran Muhammad, will take the stage to read from Malcolm X’s speeches, diaries, and letters to tell his story. Please plan to arrive at the Schomburg Center at 6:15 p.m. This event is very popular and will fill up fast.
Following the event, at 8:30 p.m. we'll walk a block west for a brief "wine down" at Yatenga French Bistro & Bar, 2269 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd (between 134th and 135th street). This will give us a chance to chat about the event over wine and light fare, all sponsored by CEBA.
Registration is $5 and limited to a first come first served basis, so register today!
