Dear Friend of Washington Irving High School,
Let's Celebrate Irving
After one hundred and eleven years, the institution that is Washington Irving High School will graduate its final class of students in June of this year. Washington Irving is now in its final year of being phased out.
This school has been a mainstay of the Union Square area since 1904, a model of opportunity and caring for tens of thousands through its existence. Students and faculty alike have called these halls their home, and alumni and past educators continue to work and volunteer in this historic building. Many people continue to feel a bond with this high school and its history, long after they have moved on to new stages in their lives, and many have expressed sadness at its termination.
As a member of the WIHS family, we invite you to join us for a celebration of the history of this school. Let's Celebrate Irving, an afternoon of remembering and rejoicing the life of Washington Irving High School, will include a collection from the archives, tours of the building, performances, and a chance to exchange treasured moments with students, alumni, former and current staff. Please come be a part of our celebration and share your perspective and memories.
